摘要: In a regenerating ion exchanger installation with a resin container, the water, acid and/or alkaline solution pipe conduits inlets lead into a common pump inlet conduit, whereby each inlet can be individually decoupled from the inlet conduit of the pump by means of a specially controllable cut-off valve. The pump is a compressed air-diaphragm pump and feeds directly into a fluid conduit ending at either the upper or the lower side of the resin container and exhibits a counting device for stroke counting, whereby a control device is provided connected to the counting device for the control of the volume flow of water out of the water inlet and acid or alkaline solution out of the acid or alkaline solution inlet via the controllable cut-off valves based on the corresponding stroke count of the compressed air-diaphragm pump. In this fashion a precise admeasurement and mixing of the regenerating agent solution introduced into the resin container can be realized and no special safety devices are needed for the pump.

摘要: A water treatment system including a plurality of treatment tanks containing a water treatment material and defining a fluid flow path through the material extending between a first tank port and a second tank port. A first remotely controlled three way valve associated with the first tank port controls the fluid communication of a source manifold and a regeneration discharge manifold with the first tank port of each tank. A second, remotely controlled three way valve controls the fluid communication of a product receiving manifold and a regeneration chemistry supply manifold with the second port of each tank. A regeneration control monitors the loading of each tank and initiates regeneration in a given tank when that tank reaches a predetermined exhaustion level. A regeneration anticipator is operative to initiate early regeneration of a given tank if it determines that a second tank will reach exhaustion before the first tank completes its regneration, if the first tank is allowed to proceed to the predetermined exhaustion level. The treatment tanks form part of a subassembly mounted on a common platform which is skid mounted to facilitate movement and service.

摘要: A demand initiated method for regenerating a water softener which operates the softener ion exchange bed over a capacity range in which the resin is most efficiently restored by exposure to brine. The reserve capacity of the softener is adjusted in response to the amount of softening capacity used since the last regeneration, as is the quantity of saturated brine to be used for the next regeneration, which is scheduled when the reserve capacity is exceeded, or the remaining available capacity will not be adequate for normal usage on the next day of the week.

摘要: A process is provided for controlling the recharging of a water conditioner. Water usage during selected fractions of a predetermined period of time is sensed. Information signifying the water usage during the selected fractions is stored. A time fraction is automatically determined, based on the stored information, when water is unlikely to be used. A selected parameter, such as volume of water used since recharging, is sensed to determine if recharging is required. The water conditioner is recharged during the automatically determined time fraction if the selected parameter indicates that recharging is required.

摘要: Water treatment apparatus having a raw water inlet and a treated water outlet and at least a first and second water treatment tank plus conduit means for passing water from the inlet to the outlet through the first and second tanks in parallel flow relation. The tanks are automatically regenerated in sequential, alternating intermittent manner in response to predetermined criteria. The tank being regenerated is connected to prevent flow from said tank through the outlet, while the tank not being regenerated is connected to provide flow through the outlet. Accordingly, continuous water treatment, with alternating, intermittent regeneration of the tanks, may be provided.

摘要: The disclosure herein describes an apparatus for determining the state of water softening material and water in a water softening tank with a view to determining when regeneration of the water softening material is needed. Top and bottom primary sets of electrically conductive probes are used at a predetermined distance, one above the other within the water softening material, the probes facing into the water softening material and water. Top and bottom secondary sets of electrically conductive probes are also used at a predetermined distance above one another within the softening material, the probes of the secondary sets being exposed to water only. The probes of the top primary set are disposed next to the probes of the top secondary set while the probes of the bottom primary set are disposed adjacent the probes of the bottom secondary set. When the resistances or measurements of the probes of the secondary sets are substantially equal to one another, the probes of the top primary set are defined as a standard against which the probes on the bottom primary set are compared for determining when regeneration is needed.

摘要: A process and system are provided for treating fluid. In one illustrative embodiment, the treatment comprises the recharging of a resin bed in a water softener. A flow switch and accumulating timer are actuated when a selected flow rate is detected. The accumulating timer is set to a selected elapsed time. A chronological timer is also provided and is set for a selected time of day to recharge the resin bed. A reserve brine capacity is provided by delivering a selected amount of water to a brine tank at predetermined elapsed time intervals of the accumulating timer. The resin bed is recharged when both a selected elapsed time of the accumulating timer has occurred and it is the selected time of day.

摘要: In a device for the treatment of water with a supply container for the provision of a regeneration agent solution and also with a piston-stroke controlled metering device for the allotting of feed-water into the supply container, wherein the exactly defined water volume which is displaced with one piston stroke can be supplied to the supply container as feed-water, the piston (5) carries at one of its axial ends a connecting rod (6) which engages tangentially in a toothed wheel (8) and can turn the latter by a certain angle .alpha. a defined by the piston stroke and the number of teeth of the toothed wheel (8) in a determined constant direction of rotation, wherein the toothed wheel (8) drives a mechanical valve control element with cyclic control program course, as for example a camshaft, a cam plate or the like. In this manner, a volume-true fluid metering device and at the same time an inexpensive stepping motor are provided for cyclic control functions by means of one single element with a mechanically simple construction, i.e. the delivery body, which contains the piston (5) with the connecting rod (6).

摘要: A signal responsive circuit especially adapted for use in a water treatment system for signaling the need for regeneration of an ion exchange resin bed or the replacement of a particulate filter medium. A series of three electrodes are disposed in the water treatment medium in longitudinally spaced relation along the direction of flow and an alternating current signal drives the center-most electrode. The two outer electrodes are coupled as inputs to first and second operational amplifiers having asymmetrical gain characteristics. When the effective resistance between the center electrode and the two outer electrodes are equal, which is the condition prior to the movement of the hardness front or contamination front to the location of the electrodes, a first signal output condition exists. However, when the resin bed or filter medium becomes "exhausted" to the point where the hardness or contamination front moves to a point between the center and upstream electrode, the signal output condition reverses state and can be used to trigger regeneration or replacement of the medium. The use of an alternating current drive signal obviates problems relating to electrode contamination or erosion. Further, an AGC circuit is utilized to ensure proper operation under variations in ambient conditions, such as temperature changes in the medium. A low pass filter also is effective to render the system less subject to short-duration transient conditions.
