摘要: An improved panel crimping machine for crimping a building panel having a curved central portion is disclosed. The building panel includes a novel curved central portion connected to two diverging inclined side wall portions in lieu of a straight central portion. Replacing the straight curved portion with a curved portion provides the building panel with increased strength and rigidity, thereby allowing the building panel to withstand increased positive and negative bending moments. Thus, a building constructed of panels having such curved central portions will reduce the present design constraints and increase the size and shape of buildings constructed of such panels.

摘要: A building panel formed from sheet material extends in a longitudinal direction along its length and includes a curved center portion in cross section, a pair of side portions extending from the curved center portion, and a pair of connecting portions extending from the side portions. The curved center portion includes a plurality segments extending in the longitudinal direction. The panel is curved in the longitudinal direction without having transverse corrugations. A particular segment may have a depth greater than that of another segment to accommodate the longitudinal curve. A system for longitudinally curving the panel includes first and second curving assemblies, each of which includes multiple rollers arranged to contact the panel as it passes along, a positioning mechanism for changing a relative rotational orientation between the first and second curving assemblies, a drive system for moving the panel longitudinally, and a control system for controlling the positioning mechanism.

摘要: A machine (10) and method for the continuous folding of sheet material (15) into difference three-dimensional patterns is featured. The innovative machine and method folds sheet material by force converging the sheet to a final stage that imparts a final fold or pattern. Unique programming allows for the change of convergence sequencing and change of materials. A plain die fold multiplier is placed before the final stage to double the number of folds in the sheet material and halve the height thereof.

摘要: A turbulizer is formed that has corrugations that each have side walls with openings and offset portions in them. A strip is rolled longitudinally to form a corrugated strip that has longitudinally extending corrugations. Openings and the above-mentioned offset portions are formed in the corrugated strip. An apparatus for forming a turbulizer has one or more pairs of roll dies that have cooperating corrugated profiles that advance strip stock that is engaged between them. These roll dies provide the strip with longitudinally extending corrugations. First and second forming dies receive the corrugated strip and move relative to one another to form pairs of spaced cuts that each define a wall portion between them. This wall portion is displaced transversely of an adjacent portion of the corrugated strip. A fin or turbulizer for a heat exchanger has a strip that has longitudinally extending side edges and longitudinally extending corrugations. There are openings through the corrugations in a region that is intermediate the side edges. An imperforate side edge portion extends between the side edge and the intermediate region. The corrugations extend in a general plane. The imperforate side edge portion inclines with respect to that general plane outwardly away from the intermediate region. The side edge portion may incline with respect to the general plane outwardly away from the intermediate portion and may have a distal portion extending inwardly generally toward the intermediate portion.

摘要: A tube and turbulator and method of making the same for a heat exchanger including a base, a top spaced from and opposing the base, a first side interposed between the base and the top along one side thereof, and a second side interposed between the base and the top along another side thereof. The base, top, first side and second side form a channel. The second side is triple hemmed such that ends of the base and the top are disposed within the channel. A flat turbulator may be disposed inside the tube and includes a base extending laterally and longitudinally in a strip. The flat turbulator also includes a plurality of corrugations spaced laterally along the base and extending longitudinally and generally perpendicular to the base in an alternating manner. The corrugations are rolled in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the strip.
