A rail shoe assembly for mounting a drilling machine to a rail of a railway track, with the drilling machine including a drill, a cutter, and a support frame with the support frame mounted to the rail, includes a base adapted to be positioned with respect to the rail and adapted to be coupled to the support frame. The rail shoe assembly also includes an adjustable bar coupled to and slideable relative to the base. The adjustable bar has a bottom edge for engagement with the rail. The adjustable bar defines a plurality of position indicators and the base defines a plurality of mounting chambers. At least one of the plurality of position indicators and at least one of the plurality of mounting chambers are alignable at a predetermined position for positioning said base relative to the rail such that the drill and cutter are positioned relative to the rail.

A hydraulically powered tool having a motor, a pump, and a hydraulic directional flow control valve. The valve has a frame and a rotatable spool with flow channels. The valve is provided as a four position, six way valve to provide four operational conditions for the tool including NEUTRAL, DRILL, RETRACT and FAST FORWARD.

A rail pulling system comprising a first and a second pin, a first and a second bolt, a first and a second threaded hole, and a first and a second receiving bore. A method of pulling rails comprising inserting a first pin through a first rail hole of a first rail, the first pin having a first receiving bore mount secured thereto; inserting a second pin through a second rail hole of a second rail, the second pin having a second receiving bore mount secured thereto; securing a first threaded hole mount onto the first pin; securing a second threaded hole mount onto the second pin; inserting a first bolt through a first receiving bore on the first receiving bore mount until the first bolt functionally engages with a second threaded hole on the second threaded hole mount; inserting a second bolt through a second receiving bore on the second receiving bore mount until the second bolt functionally engages with a first threaded hole on the first threaded hole mount; rotating the first bolt; and rotating the second bolt.

Abstract:
A portable electric railroad rail drill apparatus includes an elongated main shaft, a support frame, an electric drill, a clamp, a handle and a support leg. The support frame is reciprocally mounted to the main shaft for movement therealong between first and second ends of the main shaft. The electric drill is fixedly mounted to the support frame and reciprocally movable therewith along the main shaft. The clamp is mounted at a location adjacent to the first end of the main shaft for mounting the main shaft to a railroad track rail such that the electric drill is disposed adjacent to the rail and movable along the main shaft toward and away from the rail and is operable for drilling a hole through the rail concurrently with movement toward the rail. The handle is pivotally mounted to the main shaft and pivotally coupled to the support frame and extends upwardly therefrom such that the handle can be pivotally moved between forward and rearward positions to cause movement of the support frame along the main shaft and thereby the electric drill toward and away from the rail for drilling the hole through the rail and removing the electric drill from the hole. The support leg is mounted to the second end of the main shaft and extends in a substantially transverse relation thereto such that the support leg rests on the ground and supports and retains the second end of the main shaft above the ground.
