摘要: A method for providing haptic feedback is provided for a device that produces haptic noise, such as a power tool with an electric motor that produces noises and vibrations while in operation. An environmental condition of the device can be sensed while the device is being operated and generating haptic noise. A haptic noise characteristic of the device can be determined. A haptic drive signal based on the environmental condition and haptic noise characteristic can be generated. The haptic drive signal can be applied to a haptic output device associated with the device.

摘要: The invention relates to an improved dental tool drive arrangement for a handpiece with a drive head, the tool drive arrangement permitting length adjustment of the tool in the drive head by concentrically supporting the tool in the drive head at any position from a fully inserted position to a maximum retracted position. The tool drive arrangement preferably includes a tool and a rotatable tool supporting element for concentrically supporting the tool from the fully inserted to the maximum retracted position, the tool preferably including a maximum retraction indicator for indicating to a user when the tool has been retracted to the maximum retraction position. This provides a significant advantage over the prior art by allowing a user to adjust the exposed length of a rotatable tool, preferably a dental bur, without exceeding safe operating limits. The invention also relates to an improved drive spindle which allows depth adjustment of a tool in a dental handpiece while maintaining efficient torque transfer and concentricity during high speed rotation.

The power tool may include a first position sensor, a second position sensor, a third position sensor, and a controller. The first, second, and third position sensors may each generate a signal indicative of a distance between the respective position sensor and a workpiece. The controller may determine one or more angles of the power tool with respect to the workpiece based on the first, second, and third signal and present an indication as to whether the one or more angles are within a predetermined range. The controller may further obtain a depth measurement based on the first signal, the second signal, and the third signal and generate, based on the obtained depth measurement, one or more control signals that control operation of the power tool.

摘要: The present invention provides a device and method for aligning a drill bit of a hand drill to a specific angle—typically, perpendicular to the surface to be drilled. Concurrently, the invention provides a method to measure the depth of the drilled hole. The device of the invention comprises: (a) a signal source that generates a signal (typically a light pattern) that varies in response to changes in angle or depth of the drill bit; and (b) a holder to which the signal source is attached, the holder is mounted to the drill chuck of the drill and moves with its rotation. By using of the present invention, an image is generated that changes with angle or depth changes of the drill bit. This image is used by the operator to orient the angle of the drill bit or to determine the depth of the hole drilled.

摘要: A system for determining a depth of a hole drilled by a drilling machine. The system can include a drill string including one or more drill rods, wherein each of the one or more drill rods has a length; a target; a laser range finder configured to determine a plurality of distance readings, wherein each of the plurality of distance readings includes a distance value between the laser range finder and the target; and a controller configured to obtain the plurality of distance readings from the laser range finder. The controller processes the plurality of distance readings to produce a calculated distance between the laser range finder and the target. The controller may also use the calculated distance and the length of each of the one or more drill rods included in the drill string to determine the depth of the hole drilled by the drilling machine.
