    摘要: The invention provides a machine tool eliminating the need of keeping the removed feed-mechanism-protection cover outside the machine. The machine tool comprises a headstock provided with a main spindle for gripping a workpiece; a driving unit provided with a feed mechanism extended along a main spindle axis to move the headstock in a main spindle axial direction; a supporting bed provided with a guide bush in a removable manner; a first cover mounted on the headstock to protect a portion of the feed mechanism with respect to the main spindle axial direction; and a second cover removably mounted on the headstock on the front side of the first cover to protect another portion of the feed mechanism. The second cover is detachably attached to the first cover when removed from the headstock.

It is suggested that the supporting unit have a bearing member receptacle, in which a guide bushing for longitudinal turning can be supported in the area of its workpiece receptacle in a longitudinal turning version of the lathe and the workpiece spindle unit can be supported in the area of its workpiece receptacle radially to the workpiece spindle axis in a short turning version of the lathe.

    摘要: A numerical control machine comprises a headstock rotatably supporting a spindle for a workpiece and a tool rest assembly in front of the headstock. The tool rest assembly includes a first pair of tool rests which are disposed on both sides of the longitudinal axis of the headstock spindle and are simultaneously movable in a first direction perpendicular to the spindle axis, and a second tool rest which is movable in both second and third directions perpendicular to the spindle axis. Either the headstock or the tool rest assembly is movable in a fourth direction along the spindle axis. The movement of the first pair of tool rests in the first direction, the movement of the second tool rest in the second and third directions, and the movement of either the headstock or the tool rest assembly in the fourth direction are carried out under the control of a numerical control unit.

The lathe moves one or both of the spindle 2 and the processing means 4 forward and backward to execute machining on the workpiece. The processing means 4 includes a tool 40, a tool holder 41 that supports the tool 40, and a slide member 42 which is slidable in a lateral direction and which supports the tool holder 41. The slide member 42 has an inclined surface 42c that is positioned lower as the inclined surface 42c approaches the spindle 2 and on which the tool holder 41 is mounted and supported.
