    摘要: A milling insert includes a polygonal tubular insert body which has: rake faces on one polygonal surface thereof, flanks composed of circumferential surfaces adjacent to the polygonal surface, and cutting edges defining a ridge line where the rake faces and flanks intersect each other as cutting edges. The rake faces have serrations where mount portions and valley portions are arrayed alternately to intersect the cutting edges. The ridge line has a waveform shape when the flanks are viewed from above. Bottom portions and top portions of the waveform are formed into concave circular arc portions and convex circular arc portions, respectively, and are alternately repeated. Both of the concave and convex circular arc portions are a ¼ circular arc or more to a ⅓ circular arc or less. Each of the concave circular arc portions is unevenly located between the convex circular arc portions adjacent thereto.

    摘要: Efficient plunge cutting work in which the tool body moves forward and backward in the axial direction to cut the wall face of a workpiece at high feed-speed, is possible even in the cutting process with backward motions. The tool body 1 has a cylindrical shape with an axis O as its center axis, and provides the insert pocket 3 in the outer periphery close to the tip. The cutting insert 10 is detachably attached in the insert pocket 3. Then, by rotating the tool body 1 and by feeding it along the axis O, the cutting insert 10 cuts the wall face of a workpiece.Furthermore, the insert pocket includes a bottom face which faces the tool rotational direction and, wall faces 3B, 3C and 3D which extend from the bottom face toward the tool rotational direction. Of which, the wall face 3B is located in the inner circumference close to the tip, faces the outer peripheral side, and is also an incline wall face which inclines radially outward along the axis O to the tip, in a view from a position opposite the bottom face.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an indexable milling insert and a milling tool for chip removing machining. The milling insert is intended to be able to mill substantially perpendicular corners in a work piece. The milling insert comprises an upper side, a lower side and edge surfaces extending therebetween. The upper side and the lower side are substantially identical. An imaginary circle inscribed in the milling insert touches the milling insert periphery in four to six points. Lines of intersection between the edge surfaces and the sides form relative to each other substantially perpendicular main cutting edges and minor cutting edges. Each of the sides includes a support surface, each of which being provided in a plane. Each minor cutting edge projects from the plane of the associated support surface. Each major cutting edge intersects the plane of the associated support surface.

    摘要: A tool holder having at least one cutting insert (blade) receiving slot that is formed in part by a pair of spools at adjacent small side areas of the slot. The spools are held at a finite angle with each other which matches the angle between adjacent edges of a blade to be inserted in the slot. The spools provide a ridge to contact blade edge surfaces for only a small portion of their width. An application of this blade positioning technique is a multiple indexible blade rotary tool holder. Indexible blades for use in a wide variety of tool holders have improved chip breaking grooves adjacent to its cutting edges in surfaces thereof which lead into the work piece.
