Abstract:
An optical fiber polishing machine includes at least one of a media exchange assembly and a cleaning assembly. The media exchange assembly comprises a media exchange platen configured and arranged to support polishing media and an exchange arm having a media engaging assembly configured and arranged to selectively engage the polishing media and configured and arranged to move between the media exchange platen and a polishing machine platen. The cleaning assembly comprises an arm, a housing operatively connected to the arm, a nozzle operatively connected to the housing, and at least one of a water inlet and an air inlet in communication with the nozzle. The arm is configured and arranged to move the housing between first and second positions. The second position is proximate the fixture so that at least one of water and air dispensed through the nozzle during a cleaning process contacts the fixture.
Abstract:
A magnetic polisher and a method of use magnetic polisher for polishing a glass sleeve are described. The magnetic polisher may comprise at least one rotatable driver and at least one rotatable polishing tool. The at least one rotatable driver may comprise driver magnetic material. The at least one rotatable polishing tool may comprise tool magnetic material and a first polishing surface. At least one of the driver magnetic material and the tool magnetic material may be a magnet. The driver and polishing tool may be configured to be magnetically coupled with a workpiece. The workpiece may have at least a first internal surface to be polished. The workpiece may be located between the first polishing surface and the driver. The rotation of the driver about an axis may cause rotation of the first polishing surface against the first internal surface.
Abstract:
A grinding assembly is described, for a grinding head for a grinding machine of glass slabs, comprising: a first (and possibly a second) grinding wheel adapted to tangentially work on the glass edge and whose rotation axis A is parallel to the glass edge to be ground; and a handling system for the grinding wheel for adjusting the removal of glass in an oscillating way or in parallel with the plane of the slab to be ground. A grinding head equipped with the above grinding assembly is further described.
