摘要: An apparatus and method is provided for single transfer insert placement. The apparatus receives continuous web material and cuts a discrete section or pad from the web. The pad is then supported on a single transfer surface. The single transfer surface then may spin the supported pad to a desired angle and provide the pad to a receiving surface at a desired interval. The web material can be cut to different insert lengths and the placement location varied.

摘要: In a web cutting device, a web held by pads has a section between mutually adjacent pads that is sandwiched between an anvil and a blade edge of a cutter and cut. A stop member is fixed in a rotating member. The cutter is biased by a biasing member and comes in contact with the stop member. The stop member obstructs travel by the cutter towards the outside in the radial direction of the rotating member, when the cutter comes in contact with the stop member. The biasing member biases the cutter to the outside in the radial direction of the rotating member and causes the cutter to come in contact with the stop member, by using a predetermined biasing force, and allows the cutter to retreat when the reaction force acting on the cutter is greater than the predetermined biasing force.

摘要: A web cutting system is provided for use with a single transfer insert placement mechanism having at least one puck for transferring a discrete web and a continuous web feeding mechanism for feeding a continuous web wherein first and second rollers having substantially parallel axes and being aligned with one another form a nip at their juncture, an anvil is attached to one roller, a die is attached to the other roller, a vacuum source is coupled to one of the rollers, a plurality of vacuum apertures is formed in the same roller. One of the rollers is positioned adjacent to the single transfer insert placement mechanism and to the continuous web feeding mechanism. The continuous web is applied to one roller and at least one discrete web is transferred from the puck to the same roller after which a die cutting process of the webs occurs at the nip.

摘要: An apparatus and method for distributing wear over a plurality of elements on a rotating member. In the case of a cutoff or perforation roll, a plurality of retractable cutoff or perforation blades can be actuated to be extended or retracted to selectively cut or perforate a web. To distribute blade wear, extended blades are occasionally retracted while other blades are extended. Where it is desired to continue producing cuts or perforations of a desired length through such blade indexing, the spacing and number of blades before and after indexing are preferably the same. Most preferably, each blade retracted during indexing is replaced by a blade on the same side of and at the same distance from the blade being retracted. To hold the web during web cutting or perforating operations, the roll is preferably provided with vacuum apertures to which is supplied vacuum via vacuum lines, vacuum valves, and a vacuum source, thereby creating suction through the vacuum apertures. The valves preferably have disks each with a pattern of apertures therethrough. When the disks are rotated to selected positions with respect to one another and to the roll, certain vacuum lines are opened to the vacuum source while others are closed therefrom. In this manner, vacuum can be selectively applied to only those vacuum apertures which are necessary to hold the web in place during cutting or perforating operations. By rotating the disks, the application of vacuum can be adjusted as desired (e.g., when the blades are indexed).
