A threaded stop mounted in the plane body bears against the toe establishing the point to which the toe can slide back in the plane body. Rotation of the threaded stop moves the end of the stop by small, easily controlled increments, making it easy to change the width of the mouth while preventing contact between the toe and the plane blade.

摘要： This invention relates to an articulated iron cap for a hand plane. The iron cap pivotally mounts to a hand plane and a means for tensioning an iron in the hand plane. The iron cap for the hand plane mates to either a beveled down iron or a bevel up iron. One embodiment of the invention has a chip breaker with a three dimensional axis for engaging the iron where the chip breaker pivots approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hand plane. A nose piece on the chip breaker may be configured to extend and pivot so as to align with the grind angle on the iron. This invention places a mass near the cutting edge of the iron which allows for preloading the iron and dampening vibration of the iron. In turn, this all creates a smoother more accurate cut and requires less effort to use.

摘要： A protective cover for a carpenter's plane includes a base plate having an upper surface and a width which is substantially similar to a width of the carpenter's plane and opposing side walls having a lower portion attached to opposing edges of the base plate and which extend away from the opposing edges of the base plate to an upper portion of the side walls, the side walls tapering inwardly, toward each other, as they extend away from the base plate. The cover is constructed such that when the cover is in an installed position on the plane, the upper portions of the side walls are flexed outwardly by the plane, resulting in an inward force being applied to the plane by the upper portions of the side walls, the inward force thereby holding the cover in place on the plane. When the cover is in the installed position on the plane, the base plate is operative for covering a cutting iron of the plane.

摘要： The rough hewn bench plane attachment of the present invention allows a standard bench plane to be converted into a hewing tool that is able to create hewn lumber similar in shape and design to hand-hewn lumber. The attachment incorporates a chassis assembly mounted under the front knob of the bench plane. An eccentric rolling assembly connects to the chassis assembly and causes an eccentric rolling effect as it rolls over the lumber. This eccentric movement of the wheels causes the bench plane to correspondingly move in an eccentric manner with respect to the workpiece so that a cutting iron of the invention replacing the regular cutting iron of the plane generates varying depth gouges in the lumber workpiece. The cutting iron of the invention has an arcuate cutting edge that enhances the hewing of the lumber by varying the transverse depth of the cutting edge in the lumber workpiece. Forward motion of the adapted bench plane causes repeated non-uniform gouging of the lumber workpiece with a resultant hand-hewn appearance.
