摘要： A paper web is continuously moved by rotary drive rollers through a series of printing machines having pairs of printing rollers movable between inoperative and printing positions, and controlled and operated so that successive web sections are imprinted by the correlated printing machines only once whereby a plurality of type areas representing printed pages are printed on both sides of each web section in a predetermined pattern. After cutting of the web sections into sheets, and after collecting and folding the sheets, consecutive printed pages follow each other in a folded book.

摘要： An intermittent motion rotary printing press in which the inking cylinder and pressure cylinder are mounted in spaced apart relation on a single common bracket assembly which pivots between an inking step position and a print step position. The range of bracket assembly pivot motion is adjustable to define a first stop point at which the inking cylinder transfers ink to a printing plate and a second stop point at which the pressure cylinder confines a web in printing contact with the printing plate. One or more pneumatic cylinders operate to shift the bracket assembly between first and second stop points and hold the assembly at the selected stop point for inking or printing operations respectively.

摘要： A web-fed offset printing press has printing units each comprising a plate cylinder, a blanket cylinder, and an impression cylinder, the impression cylinder being movable into and out of rolling engagement with the blanket cylinder via the web. A first printing unit prints a first image portion on the web at prescribed spacings, by moving the impression cylinder away from the blanket cylinder each time one first image portion is printed. A second printing unit prints a second image portion on the spacings left on the web by the first printing unit, also by moving the impression cylinder away from the blanket cylinder each time one second image portion is printed. A variable speed motor rotates each blanket cylinder, while each time the associated impression cylinder is held away to create a space on the web for causing printing of the first or the second printing portion at required spacings.

摘要： A printing method and apparatus for printing different indicia, such as account numbers, on selected documents without changing plates or stopping the press during a press run. Different indicia are provided at two or more lines on a printing plate, each line being separated from an adjacent line on the plate by a predetermined distance relative to movement of the plate in a press. The plate transfers images to a blanket having a region that does not contact the plate and thus receives no image of the plate area that registers with the noncontacting region of the blanket. The plate and blanket initially are aligned so that the noncontacting region registers with one set of indicia on the plate, so that the blanket receives a partial inked image lacking that indicia. That partial inked image is transferred to sheets passing through the press. A differential drive selectively displaces the angular position of the plate cylinder on the fly relative to the blanket cylinder, so that a different set of indicia becomes aligned with the noncontacting region on the blanket cylinder, whereby the blanket does not receive an inked image of that different set of indicia and following sheets are not printed with that indicia.

摘要： The embodiment of a lithography or intaglio printing apparatus described herein include a plate cylinder, an impression cylinder adapted to be periodically pressed against the plate cylinder for rotation therewith at the same speed as that of said plate cylinder, and inking rollers in contact with the surface of a plate. The length of a printing plate mounted on the plate cylinder is less than a half of the peripheral length of the plate cylinder and is also less than the peripheral distance between the contact points of inking rollers with the surface of the printing plate and of the objects to be printed with the surface of the printing plate. The impression cylinder is moved intermittently toward said printing plate to urge sheet material into contact therewith and the periods during which the inking rollers and the sheet material are maintained in contact with the printing plate may be changed independently.
