    摘要: An improved railcar moving vehicle is capable of travel in a first rail travel mode on a railway track on rail wheels and in a second ground travel mode on ground wheels. When the rail wheels are driving the vehicle on the rails in the rail travel mode, further traction assist is achieved by lowering powered ones of the ground wheels so as to frictionally engage either the surface of the rail bed or the rails themselves with sufficient force to drivingly increase the traction of the vehicle in the rail travel mode. The powered ground wheels are preferably driven independently of each other and of the rail wheel sets in two of the preferred embodiments by independent hydrostatic motors. In the other preferred embodiment, the ground wheels are powered from the rail wheels.

    摘要: A shunting locomotive device especially useful for shunting freight-cars has running wheels along each longitudinal side adapted to run on railway tracks and supporting a platform to accommodate thereon a motor-driven driving vehicle having driving wheels, such as a fork-lift truck, the running wheels of the shunting device being in motion-transmitting connection by means of a speed reducer mechanism with at least one pair of rotatably mounted driving rollers at the top of the platform arranged on substantially parallel axes and spaced apart from each other and having generally upwardly facing traction surfaces defining a space which is narrower than the diameter of the driving wheels of the driving vehicle so that the driving wheels with their axes generally parallel with the driving rollers can rest thereon in driving relation, there being at least three, and preferably four, running wheels arranged one behind the other on each longitudinal side of the device, the treads of all running wheels having a covering of resilient friction material, such as rubber, plastic or the like, the running wheels being in motiontransmitting connection with the driving rollers, the foremost and rear-most running wheels on each side having a flange, and the running wheels between the foremost and rearmost running wheels at each side being flangeless.

    摘要: A railroad dolly and truck equipped to have its front wheels supported upon the dolly off the ground and its rear wheels partially supported by the dolly with sufficient contact with the ground to power and brake the dolly. The truck is equipped with a hydraulic lift suspended from the front undercarriage and a similar lift suspended from the rear undercarriage. The lift has a wegde-shaped member mounted at the free end of the lift. The dolly includes a front dolly section and a rear dolly section. The sections are flexibly linked to each other and have railroad wheels adapted to ride conventional rails. Each section has a trough mounted on its frame. The trough is vee-shaped and mates with the lift wedge. The front lift centers within the front dolly trough and raises the truck tires off the ground. The rear lift centers within the rear dolly trough and raises the truck partially or completely off the ground. The truck is equipped with signalling devices to fix its proper location over the dolly before mounting the dolly in a hydraulic system to supply the power to the lift necessary to raise the truck. Hooks are provided underneath the truck to grip the dolly during transportation between rail locations. Each dolly has its own braking system.
