摘要: A trim tab for a power boat comprises a first portion adapted to attach to a transom of the power boat, a second portion adapted to contact, at a variable angle, a fluid in which the power boat is being operated to control a trim angle of the power boat, and a live hinge adapted to hingedly affix the second portion to the first portion. The first and second portions may be constructed of aluminum. The live hinge may comprise a strip of a thermoplastic polymeric material having a relatively thin center section spanning a gap between the first and second portions and having relatively thick edge sections on opposite sides of the center section. The thermoplastic polymeric material may comprise polypropylene. The first and second portions may each define a gap for receiving one edge section of the live hinge.

摘要: A hydrofoil-shaped stabilizer or attitude-changing means for boats, having an elongated frame assembly adapted to be connected to a submerged portion of the hull of a boat with its longitudinal axis parallel to the fore-to-aft axis of the boat. A flexible curtain assembly extends about the frame assembly and is fixed thereto but free to move laterally and to a more limited extent longitudinally relative to the frame assembly. The interior of the curtain assembly communicates with the surrounding water and is deflected to one side or the other relative to the frame assembly by its displacement relative to the water caused by a change in the attitude of the boat so as to form a hydrofoil having a camber for generating forces to oppose the change in attitude to one side or the other when the boat is underway.

摘要: A fin stabilizer is for the roll-stabilizing of a watercraft in motion, at anchor, or at zero speed, including a shaft on which a stabilizing fin is disposed. The shaft is drivable by a drive unit for changing at least one angle of attack of the stabilizing fin in the water. A cross-sectional geometry of the stabilizing fin is changeable by at least one actuator, and the stabilizing fin forms a closed surface geometry. Due to the hydraulically effective cross-sectional geometry of the stabilizing fin, which cross-sectional geometry is largely changeable by at least one actuator, a significantly increased energy efficiency of the fin stabilizer results with a simultaneously improved stabilizing effect of the fin stabilizer, in particular with respect to suppressing rolling movements of the watercraft.

摘要: Methods are disclosed for increasing lift and decreasing drag on hydrofoils and swim fins. Methods are disclosed for providing a hydrofoil with a substantially longitudinal recess or venting system located substantially along the center axis of the hydrofoil. Methods also include providing the attacking surfaces of hydrofoils with an anhedral contour that forms a substantially lengthwise channel with the recess or venting means located along the center axis of this lengthwise channel. Methods are also disclosed for arranging a central recess or venting system to permit water to flow through it toward the lee surfaces in order to reduce the occurrence of outward directed spanwise flow conditions along the attacking surfaces and encourage inward directed spanwise flow conditions to occur along the attacking surfaces. Methods are disclosed for applying lift generating and drag reducing methods to both non-flexible and flexible hydrofoil blades that are used in reciprocating propulsion strokes through a fluid medium. Methods are also provided for controlling and reducing the build up of torsional stress forces within a flexible hydrofoil as it is encouraged to twist to a reduced angle of attack during use.

摘要: Water craft or amphibious vehicle includes a hull 12 fitted with at least one elongate longitudinal keel; which may be extruded from rubber. The keel has at least one mounting formation, to engage with channel formation. The keel may be mounted directly into hull; alternatively, at least one mounting structure may comprise an extrusion; mounted into a channel in the hull. The keel may be flexible to resist damage if grounded; but is laterally stiff to aid handling on water. The keel may be slid into place longitudinally; and may be finished with a rubber end piece, protected by a further metal end piece. Both end pieces may be detachable. Keel may be foam filled; or may be inflated with fluid to alter its cross section.

摘要: Methods are disclosed for increasing lift and decreasing turbulence and drag on hydrofoils and swim fins. Fins are disclosed having at least one pivoting blade region connected to the swim fin with a pivotal connection made from reduced blade thickness, blade cutout regions, and injection molding of the flexible material of the foot pocket. Methods are also provided for limiting the deflections of at least one pivoting blade region with a expandable blade limiting member connected to both the pivoting blade region and a less flexible region with a chemical bond created during injection molding. Methods are disclosed for orienting at least one pivoting blade region at a reduced angle of attack sufficient for increased efficiency and reduced effort. Injection molding assembly methods with chemical bonds and mechanical bonds are provided. Fins having transverse flexible elements, transverse recesses, longitudinal flexible portions and venting systems are also disclosed.

摘要: A hydrofoil and swim fin is provided for increasing lift and decreasing drag. In a preferred embodiment, the hydrofoil has a swept back leading edge and is oriented at a reduced angle of attack substantially transverse to the direction of movement of the hydrofoil. Structural reinforcement may be used to inhibit hydrofoil deformation during use, and a recess may be incorporated into the hydrofoil to direct fluid flow with respect to the hydrofoil surface. Torsional stress that acts on the hydrofoil when in use is also addressed.

摘要: A fin of aquatic carrier is described, which includes a fixing component, a retractable component, and a first elastic component. The retractable component is pivoted to the fixing component; the first elastic component connects the fixing component and the retractable component and supports the retractable component. When the retractable component experiences an external force, the first elastic component is compressed and causes the retractable component to rotate with respect to the fixing component. When surfers or swimmers are hit by the fin of aquatic carrier described in this invention, the rotation of the retractable component with respect to the fixing component reduces the force exerted on them, thus preventing them from being hurt. In addition, an aquatic carrier with a fin is also described.
