摘要： Scoreline, profiling and reinforcing features are provided for an easy-access sheet metal end closure (20) and an integral opener (44). An endwall panel (28) is formed so as to substantially eliminate flexing of the sheet metal during rupture of residual metal of scoreline means defining a U-shaped tear strip (30). Such tear strip is oriented with its arcuately-shaped closed end (32) contiguous to the periphery of such endwall panel with scoreline legs (34,35) directed toward a portion at its geometric center (26). The opener is fabricated with a chisel-point (92) at its working end (66) to initiate puncture of such arcuate-shaped scoreline by Class I lever action. Rupturing of the scoreline is followed by pivoting of the opener about a pair of fulcrum points (82,83) which contact the panel one each external to a side of opening 62, with movement of the opening about such fulcrum points rupturing the scoreline legs by Class II lever action. The opener and tear strip are retained and stored externally on the panel without obstructing the opening (62).

摘要： An injection molding apparatus produces a one-piece molded end closure has a pull ring spaced from a main panel, which has an annular flange extending therefrom and may have score lines. The pull ring is connected to the main panel by a tenon. The apparatus includes a slidable member disposed in a first passage in a core having a cavity surrouding a portion of the first passage. The core and the slidable member have end surfaces spaced from an end surface of a cavity insert to form a recess therebetween into which molten plastic is injected to form the main panel. The core has a second passage communicating the recess with the cavity in the core so that the molten plastic flows into the cavity to form the pull ring with the tenon being formed in the second passage in the core. The slidable member is removed from the first passage prior to moving the cavity insert away from the core to enable removal of the pull ring through the first passage in the core and the tenon from the second passage in the core without any tearing of the pull ring or rupturing of any score lines in the main panel when the end closure is removed from the core.

摘要： What is disclosed is a resealable flip-top beverage can having a rotatable sealing top mounted above the can top of the beverage can, and the sealing top is rotated into a first position to open a hole in the top of the beverage can and through which the contents of the can are dispensed, and is rotated into a second position where the sealing top seals the hole. Sealing means are provided on the top of the can top and on the underside of the sealing top that cooperate to seal the beverage can. A separate actuating means may be snapped onto the top of the beverage can and is coupled to the sealing top so that as the actuating means is rotated the sealing top is rotated. Alternatively, the sealing top may have a downturned, knurled edge extending over the side of the beverage can, and the edge is grasped and rotated to open and close the beverage can.

摘要： A pressure-packing container comprises an impervious container body having an internally recessed upper edge, and an easy-to-open closure cap composed of a rigid outer closure member having an annular rim, a resilient inner closure member joined with the underside of the outer closure member, and a sheet of impervious film bonded with the inner closure member. To close the container, an inner peripheral wall of the rim is plastically deformed to force a portion of the inner closure member to flex into a groove in the upper edge, with an outer edge of the impervious film sheet sandwiched between the deformed inner closure member and the grooved upper edge, thereby providing a hermetic seal strong enough to withstand the inside pressure of the container.

摘要： A process of forming biaxially oriented tubular articles by repeatedly performing a cycle of operations which includes engaging a thermoplastic tube by a first clamping member over a first region at a trailing end of the tube and engaging the tube by a second clamping mechanism over a second region at a spacing from the first region so as to define between the clamping mechanisms a portion of the tube to be longitudinally stretched and radially expanded; moving the clamping mechanisms apart to stretch the tube portion therebetween longitudinally; admitting pressure fluid into the tube portion to expand it radially and form a biaxially oriented bubble adjacent the leading end of the tube, and severing a substantial part, but not all, of the bubble from the tube to form the tube with a radially outwardly flared end as the leading end of the tube for the succeeding cycle of operations.

摘要： Biaxially oriented tubular articles which are destined to provide bodies for processable food containers are made from an elongate tube of thermoplastics material as it emerges from an extruder. The manufacturing process comprises repeatedly performing a cycle of operations each including the following steps:engaging the tube by a first clamping means (11,12) over a first region at a leading end of the tube (10) and by a second clamping means (13,14) over a second region at a spacing from the first region, so as to define between the clamping regions a portion of the tube to be longitudinally stretched and radially expanded;moving the clamping means apart to stretch the tube portion longitudinally and admitting pressure fluid to the tube portion to expand it radially, such stretching and expansion forming a bubble (100) of biaxially oriented thermoplastics material adjacent the leading end of the tube; andsevering (at 22) at least a substantial part of the bubble from the tube to form the tube with a new end as the said leading end of the tube for the succeeding cycle of operations.

摘要： A lid for a can-like container is disclosed which comprises a gas barrier-type multi-layer base for the lid, a reinforcing thermoplastic resin layer formed on said multi-layer base, and a tab seat of a synthetic resin having a tab and formed on that portion of the upper surface of the bottom surrounded by said reinforcing thermoplastic resin layer. The tab seat is disposed in spaced relation to said upper surface of the bottom and disposed in such a manner that a score portion having as small a width as possible is formed between the outer periphery of the tab seat and the inner peripheral edge of said reinforcing thermoplastic resin layer. The upper surface of said bottom is exposed through the score portion.
