Abstract:
A system for loading articles into a container is provided, comprising a platform unit and an elevator unit configured to adjust its elevation relative to the container and a platform unit comprising an opening facing the container and defining an edge of the platform unit, a transfer arrangement comprising a plurality of parallel independent transfer members defining a receiving surface and extending along a loading direction transverse to the edge and configured to move of the others, and a positioning arrangement to orient the article to a loading orientation on the receiving surface and position it at a predetermined loading position along an axis perpendicular to the loading direction. The transfer arrangement is configured to extend a subset of the transfer members in the loading direction through the opening, thereby facilitating placement of the article at a predetermined location within the container.
Abstract:
Airport luggage carousels are usually operated in a run-to-failure approach that necessarily leads to failures. Anomalies are detected during operation of a conveyor system having a revolving drive chain, a drive unit and a conveyor belt. The drive chain serves to transmit force and motion from a drive unit to a conveyor belt, and has chain elements and pins connecting them. At least one of the pins is a force measurement pin that registers the forces acting thereon during movement of the drive chain. The registered forces are transmitted wirelessly to the background system together with a timestamp and/or a location stamp and an identity of the force measurement pin. The transmitted data are analyzed in the background system and, in the event of deviations, identified as an anomaly and signaled by a notification. The measurement results are evaluated to derive maintenance measures in a targeted manner.
Abstract:
A system for handling of luggage or parcel items comprises a principal conveyor for conveying the items to respective unloading positions along the principal conveyor, and a first item buffer section comprising a number of first item accumulation units arranged at the unloading positions of the principal conveyor. Each of the first item accumulation units comprises a plurality of shelves for storing a plurality of items on each shelf. At least one directing apparatus at each unloading position is provided for directing the items onto the shelves of the first item accumulation units. A second item buffer section comprises second item accumulation units comprising a plurality of shelves for storing a plurality of items on each shelf. An item transfer apparatus is arranged to receive items unloaded from the first item accumulation units. A control system controls operation of the item transfer apparatus.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to baggage handling systems and in particular a platform for moving baggage in multiple directions and methods of using the same with baggage carts and a baggage handling system to reduce human interaction and intervention with the baggage and for tracking of baggage.
Abstract:
A conveyor device for conveying an object with an identification device. The conveyor device comprises a plurality of rollers, connected drive motors for driving the rollers, a transmitter, a receiver for detecting the distance of the identification device and a control device for controlling the connected drive motors.
Abstract:
A device for automatic detection of whether an item is correctly routed is provided, the item including at least one radio frequency tag, wherein the device includes an RF communication mechanism for receiving at least one reading from the RF tag, said device being adapted to be arranged at a read point in proximity of the conveying mechanism, which conveying mechanism is operable to transport the item towards a destination, wherein the device is configured to extract identification and/or destination information from the reading received from the item on the conveying mechanism crossing past the device and to verify whether the item is correctly routed. Also, provided is a method for automatic detection of whether an item is correctly routed.
Abstract:
The invention provides a sorting mechanism arranged to empty or discharge a container for carrying a load, e.g. totes in a luggage handling system. The sorting mechanism has a plurality of tilting elements T1-T11 for receiving and transporting the container in a transport direction. The tilting elements T1-T11 are arranged neighbouring each other, and they are individually tiltable by controllable tilting actuators, e.g. servo motors. The tilting elements T1-T11 are controlled in response to at least one position signal such that a group of at least two tilting elements T1-T11 perform a coordinated tilting motion, when the container passes the sorting mechanism. Each tilting element T1-T11 has a length of 30-50% of the container. The tilting elements T1-T11 are stationary, and the container is driven forward by belts on each of the tilting elements T1-T11.
Abstract:
A sorting conveyor for transporting objects and unloading objects at one or more unloading stations adjacent the conveyor. The sorting conveyor includes a conveyor track and a train of conveyor carts connected end-to-end. At least one of the conveyor carts may include a frame base for engaging the conveyer track; a carrying tray for holding the objects; and a support for supporting the carrying tray above the frame base. A tilting mechanism including at least one gear having at least one cam is adapted for tilting the carrying tray toward at least one side of the conveyor. The present inventions may further include a tilt sensor for determining the direction of tilt of the tray. In addition, a drive motor and a driven member attached to the frame base may be included for moving the conveyor carts around the track.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of handling a variety of objects of different size, shape and weight, where each object is to be transported to a specific destination, where the transportation involves transportation on a conveyor system (4) and discharge from the conveyor system (4) to at least one intermediate elongate storage device (5-10), the method comprising the steps of determining desired position of an object on the intermediate elongate storage device (5-10) and discharging the object with one of at least two speed levels in the longitudinal direction of the storage device (5-10) that allows the object to reach the desired position. The invention further relates to a handling system for performing the method as well as a control system for controlling such system.
Abstract:
A sorting device for sorting products, for example pieces of luggage, including a removing mechanism moving the product to be sorted off the supporting surface at a desired sorting location, wherein the removing mechanism includes a pusher element and a moving mechanism moving the pusher element laterally at a sorting location so as to have the pusher element push the product to be sorted off the supporting surface. The removing mechanism further includes two guides each sorting unit for guiding two respective guide members of the pusher element during the lateral movement of the pusher element.
