Abstract: A conveying system for intended use in sorting articles and related methods of conveying and sorting articles are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system comprises a first conveyor extending in a first direction and a second conveyor extending in a second direction, with the directions intersecting. A transfer conveyor, such as a transpositor conveyor, may be provided for transferring articles from one of the first conveyors to one of the second conveyors. The system may be used to sort articles delivered from one or more storage locations for distribution, or may instead be used to sort articles for delivery to one or more storage locations. Related aspects and methods are also described.

Abstract: In some embodiments, methods and systems are provided that permit a customer to purchase one or more products but not take possession of the products or cause delivery of the products at the time of the purchase order. The products are then stored at one or more product storage locations of the retailer while being marked as purchased by the customer in an inventory management database of the retailer. The customer is provided with a customer interface including a plurality of input fields configured to allow the customer to define one or both of: a delivery time period and a delivery destination for delivery of at least a portion of the products purchased by the customer; and a pickup location and a pickup time period for at least a portion of the products purchased by the customer.

Abstract: A sorting method, cross-belt system, and computer-storage media are provided for conveying and sorting items. The cross-belt system includes a plurality of interlocking palettes that form a conveyor belt. Each palette may be engaged by a series of rollers that are triggered to discharge items on the palettes to appropriate loading areas. The rollers are configured to move a belt of the palettes in one of at least two directions to a selected loading area that is positioned on either side of the cross-belt system.

Abstract: A device for conveying piece goods. The device comprises a sorting system for sorting the piece goods. The successively arranged conveying systems are guided with this device along a conveying line and can be driven by at least one driving means that engages a driving belt. In a first embodiment, there is a driving belt on the driving side and a driving belt on the driven side which each comprise a rubber chain comprising a toothed profile. The toothed profiles of both rubber chains are in a substantially similar form. The device can also have a driving belt that is clamped in a fixed manner between the clamping jaws of the rigid clamping profiles. These clamping jaws extend at least substantially over the entire length of respective conveying system or sorting system. Furthermore, the non-clamped length of driving belt between the successively disposed conveying systems is much shorter than the length of the clamping profiles.

Abstract: A conveyor system for sorting articles comprises a plurality of conveyor units adapted to run along a conveyor path having vertical and/or horizontal loops. The conveyor system comprises loading conveyors for loading articles onto the conveyor units, and wherein each or some of the loading conveyors and/or conveyor units comprise barrier means for stopping the displacement of an article in relation to the loading conveyor and/or conveyor units. The loading conveyor may be adapted to reorient or rotate an article during loading and to load an article having a length greater than the length of a single conveyor unit onto two or more contiguous conveyor units. The loading conveyor may load at least two articles onto one conveyor unit, so that the articles are arranged next to each other on the conveyor unit. The conveyor system comprises a control system for controlling, according to predetermined velocity ramps, the driving means for loading and unloading articles. The conveyor system may have means for utilization of the interstices between the conveyor units in the conveyor system.
