    摘要: A method for producing a silica sol containing less than 200 ppm sodium having an average particle size of 2-110 nm, and a particle size distribution with a coefficient dispersion of 0.16-0.4. The silica sols are produced using a lower alkanolamine containing heal to which aliquots of silicic acid are added. The aliquots are added to maintain a substantially constant concentration of colloidal silica in the product. Subsequent to production, the sol may be concentrated by ultrafiltration.Preparation of low sodium silica sol utilizing a constant silica technique by heating the initial heel to 94.degree..+-.4.degree. C. and adding additional silica maintaining constant total silica. The stabilization is effected with an alkanolamine.

    摘要: There is provided a method for producing an elongated-shaped silica sol comprising the following steps: (a) adding an aqueous solution containing a water soluble Ca salt and/or Mg salt to an aqueous colloidal solution of active silicic acid with an SiO2 concentration of 1 to 6% by mass and a pH of 2 to 5 in a mass ratio of CaO and/or MgO to SiO2 in the active silicic acid of 1500 to 15,000 ppm, and mixing; (b) adding alkali metal hydroxide, a water soluble organic base, or water soluble silicate thereof to an aqueous solution obtained through (a) in a determined molar ratio to SiO2, and mixing; (c) heating a mixture obtained through (b) at 85 to 200° C. for 0.5 to 20 hours so as to obtain a colloidal solution; (d) removing, from the colloidal solution obtained through (c), part of water and at least part of anions derived from the aqueous solution containing the water soluble Ca salt and/or Mg salt; and (e) heating a colloidal solution obtained through (d) at a temperature of 80 to 195° C. that is lower than a heating temperature in (c) for 0.5 to 20 hours.

    摘要: A process for preparing stable, essentially transparent alkaline silica aquasols having an average particle diameter of 5 to 10 millimicrons by adding an acidic silica sol to a dilute alkali metal silicate solution. The acidic silica sol is gradually added over a period of 4 to 8 hours such that not more than 25 weight percent of the acidic sol is added during any one hour period. At least 25 weight percent of the acidic sol is added while the temperature is maintained within a range of about 25* C. to about 50* C., at least about 7 weight percent to about 30 weight percent is added while the temperature is maintained within a range of about 50* C. to about 90* C. and the balance is added while the temperature is maintained within a range of about 70* C. to about 100* C. The last step is that of concentrating by evaporation of water.
