    摘要: The present invention is directed to embodiments of reactive material (RM) and an associated chemical time delay that includes an RM, according to an embodiment of the present invention. One embodiment includes a delay material that is an RM patterned on a substrate using lithographic techniques. The method comprising inserting a detonator into a connector block having a housing (2, 22, 40) provided with a bore (13, 31, 44), positioning the detonator in the bore of the housing so that the percussion-actuation end of the detonator is positioned adjacent to a slot (14, 35) for receiving the shock tubes; and fixing the detonator in the housing. The detonator is fixed in the housing by causing a body of material (10) to flow plastically into the recess in the detonator and to harden therein to form a locking element fixed to the housing, thereby preventing accidental movement of the detonator within the connector block.

The connector block comprises a housing (2, 21) having a bore (4, 23) formed therein for receiving a detonator (6, 36) provided with a percussion-actuation end (7, 25), a shock tube retention means (8, 28) defining with the housing a slot (9, 29) for receiving therein at least one shock tube (10, 30) and holding the at least one shock tube in signal transfer relationship with the percussion-actuation end of the detonator present in the bore, the slot having an entrance (12, 32) for allowing insertion of the at least one shock tube into the slot, and a flexible and resilient closure member (11, 31) or an inflexible closure member (50) pivotable on a sprung hinge (51) extending partially or fully into the entrance. The closure member and the shock tube retention means resiliently flex to allow entry of the at least one shock tube through the entrance and into the slot, the closure member flexing through a distance at least 30% the diameter of the shock tube.

    摘要: A novel transfer ordnance line and novel end fittings for the transfer line for use in space vehicles, aircraft, missile systems and other military applications. The transfer line is a Rapid Deflagration Cord (RDC) hermetically encapsulated in a metal tubing. The metal tubing terminates at end fittings such as a loaded high energy (HE) end fitting which detonates, a low energy (LE) end fitting which burns, and a percussion primer used to start burning of the RDC in the transfer line. The transfer line is constructed so that gases produced during the burning of the RDC do not escape and pose a threat to the surroundings during functioning and so moisture does not enter the system during shelflife, transportation, or at any other time prior to functioning. With minor adjustments to the transfer tube and the end fittings, the transfer tubing can be made flexible by forming a coil. With minor adjustments, a loaded HE end fitting can be made into a separation end fitting used ejected devices that must remain on course. Loaded HE end fittings may be placed in a manifold where it will ignite one or more loaded HE and LE end fittings to further progress the reaction. Loaded LE end fittings may be placed in transfer manifolds joining one or more other loaded LE end fittings to progress the reaction.

    摘要: A blasting cap initiator system has a main housing with an imperforate lower wall, parallel side walls, and front and rear walls. An L-shaped locking slot is formed centrally in one side wall with a trigger recess formed in the top wall adjacent the rear wall and a cylindrical bore extending from the rear wall through the front wall. A firing pin is mounted for reciprocal movement within the bore between a retracted orientation and an advanced orientation. The firing pin has a centrally located circumferential groove. A trigger is pivotably mounted in the trigger recesses movable between a locking orientation with a finger engageable with the groove and a raised orientation to a disengage orientation. A pair of axial coil springs between the rear wall and the cylinders independently allow the advancement of the cylinders.
