摘要:
Method and apparatus for the production of fancy yarns from falsely twisted core and fancy threads. Staple fibers are drafted by a cylindrical drafter; the core and fancy threads are false twisted by a hollow spindle. At least one drafting of staple fibers are supplied upon the falsely twisted core and fancy threads by means of a pneumatic transporting channel. The speed of the fibers constituting the fancy threads is greater than the peripheral speed of the rollers delivering the core thread. If desired, two rovings of staple fibers may be used, the two rovings having different titre in a ratio of 1:10 and having different lengths of the fibers in a ratio of above 1:2, both rovings entering from one drafter, the two rovings after being drawn being supplied together to the combined false twisted core thread and fancy thread.

Apparatus and method for making loop chenille type yarns and yarns produced thereby are disclosed. An elongated spindle having a tapered needle surface at one end thereof is provided. The spindle has a passage therein in communication with the needle surface for feeding a core thread to the needle surface. Effect thread is overfed to the needle location where a nose piece member cooperating with the needle aids in wrapping the effect thread about the needle to form loops. The binder yarn is fed to the needle and twisted about the core and effect threads. In a preferred embodiment, means are provided for reciprocating the nose piece relative to the needle between effect thread loop forming and effect thread non-loop forming dispositions. In this manner, "thick" and "thin" novelty yarns are provided in which the thick sections of the yarn comprise looped effect threads whereas the loops are not provided in the thin yarn sections. Means may also be provided for twisting the effect thread about the binder and core threads. Further, by utilization of a novel lateral feed of the effect thread with respect to the needle surface, the effect thread is not twisted about the core thread, but rather is disposed in side by side adjacent relationship to the core with the binder being twisted about the core and effect thread.

Fancy yarns are produced by twisting a core yarn in one direction, and then winding an effect yarn in the opposite direction about the core yarn while simultaneously varying the velocity of the core yarn so as to group the turns of effect yarn on the core yarn. A plurality of oppositely wound effect yarns can be applied. The direction of twist of each yarn remains unchanged throughout.

A process for producing composite yarns comprises the steps of first wrapping a second yarn around the perimeter of and along the length of a first yarn and then heating the yarn intermediate produced by such wrapping to produce a composite yarn. When a heat-shrinkable yarn is used in producing such a composite yarn, the shrinkage of the heat-shrinkable yarn enables the production of composite yarns possessing aesthetic qualities similar to those exhibited by yarns produced by much more complicated processes, such as bouclé and chenille yarns.

AN IMPROVED PROCESS FOR PRODUCING FANCY YARNS, I.E., "NUBBLED" YARNS WHEREIN AN EFFECT YARN IS WOUND ON AT LEAST ONE CORE YARN UPON PASSAGE THROUGH A FIRST COVERING OR LAPPING ELEMENT WITH A BINDING YARN BEING SUBSEQUENTLY WOUND ON THE INTERMEDIARY ASSEMBLY FORMED FROM THE EFFECT YARN AND CORE YARN IN A SECOND LAPPING OR COVERING ELEMENT, THE IMPROVEMENT RELATING TO THE FACT THAT THE SPEED OF THE INTERMEDIARY ASSEMBLY IS VARIED WHILE THE FINAL WINDING TO PRODUCE THE COMPLETED FANCY YARN IS CONDUCTED AT SUBSTANTIALLY CONSTANT SPEED.
