Abstract:
There are provided a towel cloth which has a bulky and fluffy texture, is less likely to undergo fluff dropping, and is excellent in water absorbency, and a manufacturing method thereof. For a towel cloth including a ground weave including a warp ground yarn and a weft ground yarn crossing each other therein, and a pile yarn locked to the ground weave, at least one of the warp ground yarn, the weft ground yarn, and the pile yarn is formed of a twisted union finished yarn, and the twisted union finished yarn includes a twisted union yarn including two or more rovings twisted in a primary twisting direction as a single yarn, one of the rovings having an even twist, and at least another of the rovings partially having a twist with irregular strand length and twisting angle, the twisted union yarn undergoing fiber opening and being puffy.
Abstract:
The knitted textiles include a knitted structure including a plurality of hollow yarns. Each hollow yarn includes a yarn body and defines a yarn hole extending through the yarn body to allow expansion of the yarn body upon inflation of each hollow yarn through the yarn hole. The knitted structure is configured to transition from an unexpanded state to an expanded state in response to the inflation of the hollow yarns through the yarn hole. The knitted structure has a first porosity in the unexpanded state, and the knitted structure has a second porosity in the expanded state. The second porosity is less than the first porosity such that a visibility through the knitted structure is greater when the knitted structure is in the unexpanded state than when the knitted structure is in the expanded state.
Abstract:
A false-twisted low-fused polyester yarn has a non-untwisted part having a twist in a false-twist direction, an over-untwisted part having a twist in a direction opposite to the false-twist direction, and a non-twisted crimped part having no twist, alternately disposed along the longitudinal direction of the yarn, the average length of the non-untwisted part being no more than 7 mm, the average length of the over-untwisted part being at least 7 mm, and the degree of fusion-bonding in the yarn longitudinal direction being no more than 50%.
Abstract:
The present invention provides cured article reinforcing fibers having a shape advantageous in physically bonding the fibers to a hardening material or bringing the fibers into engagement with the hardening material, and also provides a cured article using the fibers. The cured article reinforcing fiber of the present invention has a multilobal cross section with three or more projections. At least one of the projections has a substantially curved end part, and a base part situated toward the center of the fiber has a width smaller than the largest width of the end part. Thus, the fiber particularly has high bending strength. Further, the cured article of the present invention includes a mixture of the cured article reinforcing fiber and a hardening material, and the hardening material has been cured.
Abstract:
A process for producing a tapered multifilament yarn comprising feeding a drawable filament to a drawing apparatus and changing the take-over speed relative to the feed speed of the filament in order to change the thickness of the filament in a longitudinal direction, characterized by making the take-over speed slower than the feed speed under heating in a part of the filament in the longitudinal direction and thereby shrinking and thickening the part of the filament. According to the process, the ratio of the thickness of the thickest part of the tapered multifilament yarn to the thickness of the thinnest part thereof can be easily increased.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to bicomponent conjugate fibers having excellent crimping property, comprising: (A) a thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) as a first component, and (B) a polyester polymer as a second component. The present invention also relates to yarns and fabrics comprising said bicomponent conjugate fibers.
Abstract:
An absorbent string comprising of a plurality of absorbent products. Each product has a tubular envelope. In use, the string is placed by the side of an appliance such as a freezer, whereby moisture from the appliance on the floor can pass through the envelope and be absorbed by the absorbent material. Each product has opposite ends that are complementarily shaped and are abutting with ends of adjacent products to form the absorbent string. The products have an elongate chevron shape. Each product has a double skin bottom and a single, folded top skin. Moisture on the floor can pass through the outer skin by capillary action into the product through the bottom. The absorbent material extends into the head and tail ends and up to the sealed periphery.
Abstract:
A powder-based adsorbent and a related method of manufacture are provided. The powder-based adsorbent includes polymer powder with grafted side chains and an increased surface area per unit weight to increase the adsorption of dissolved metals, for example uranium, from aqueous solutions. A method for forming the powder-based adsorbent includes irradiating polymer powder, grafting with polymerizable reactive monomers, reacting with hydroxylamine, and conditioning with an alkaline solution. Powder-based adsorbents formed according to the present method demonstrated a significantly improved uranium adsorption capacity per unit weight over existing adsorbents.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a high surface area fibers and an improved filter composite media made from the same. More specifically, the composite media preferably comprises a winged-fiber layer having high surface area fibers for increased absorption and strength and a meltblown layer for additional filtration. In one preferred embodiment the high surface area fibers have a middle region with a plurality of projections that define a plurality of channels, which increases the surface area of the fiber. In one preferred embodiment, the high surface area fiber has a specific surface area of about 140,000 cm2/g or higher and a denier of about 1.0 to about 2.0. The high surface area fiber of the present invention is made using a bicomponent extrusion process using a thermoplastic polymer and a dissolvable sheath.
