A snow removal vehicle is provided as a means of collecting, melting, and transporting in order to facilitate snow removal operations during winter months. The snow removal vehicle is able to remove and dispose of snow from a plurality of environments. The snow removal vehicle accomplishes this through the user of a snow collection means mounted to the front section of an existing vehicle. The snow collection means channels removed snow through a snow conveyance means which transports the collected snow to a water tank positioned within an insulated enclosure. A high pressure nozzle sprays the collected snow while in the snow conveyance means to melt it before it reaches the water tank. The water tank contains the collected snow as water, but additional serves as reservoir for the high pressure nozzle.

A snow removal vehicle is described and it has an enclosed snow melting chamber provided with a plurality of high pressure steam jets which are connected to one or more steam generators. The enclosed snow melting chamber has a water collecting reservoir in a lower portion thereof below a bottom wall of the snow melting chamber. The bottom wall has passages to channel water from the snow melting chamber to the water collecting reservoir. The vehicle body has a front entry opening communicating with the snow melting chamber and an auger screw is mounted in the front entry opening to eject snow inside a forward end of the snow melting chamber. Snow propelling wheels are secured along at least a front end portion of the snow melting chamber to propel snow ejected from the auger along the snow melting chamber for contact by the high pressure steam to melt the snow. An outlet evacuating valve is provided to evacuate water collected in the water collecting reservoir. The vehicle may also be equipped with a hopper shute for use in a stationary mode to melt snow dumped in the shute.

Snow and/or ice is deposited in a water bath in the melting reservoir. The rotor rotates at high speed, hurling particles of crystalline snow from the tips of the rotor slots onto the perpendicular faces of the stator, thereby fracturing the crystals and promoting liquefication. The high mechanical forces generated during operation of the rotor-stator device also contribute a significant amount of heat that is applied directly to the snow. The system also includes ancillary assemblies, such as heat-exchangers and snow-transport means. The system is operable as a stationary unit or a mobile unit.

A land vehicle system for collecting crude oil and other contaminants which have been spilled on snow and ice covered surfaces includes a crawler tractor having an auger type collection and transfer mechanism mounted forwardly thereof for skimming the contaminant and a layer of snow and/or ice from the Earth's surface. The recovered oil and snow and/or ice are transported by a vacuum line to a storage and transport vehicle towed by the tractor. The storage and transport vehicle may be self-propelled and includes an onboard storage tank which is heated to melt the snow and/or ice and a separator for separating air used to transport the contaminated snow and/or ice to the tank. The tractor includes onboard prime movers for operating a vacuum pump for collecting the contaminated snow and/or ice and a prime mover for propulsion and operation of the skimming and collection mechanism.

A primary conduit engaging the road surface coupled with a secondary conduit together carry the snow into the storage chamber. The secondary conduit, blower and worm provide means to compensate for variations in vehicle speed and conditions of the snow on the road surface. The snow may be melted at the chamber to economize space and provide easy evacuation of the chamber by a steam generator or flame thrower mounted in the vehicle.

This disclosure pertains to a vehicular snow removal device which encloses a quantity of snow and ice into an openable container equipped with steam jackets, permitting the snow to be heated by the steam supplied to the jackets by a steam generating system mounted on the vehicle. While the melting process takes place the water produced thereby is pumped into a water receiving tank mounted on the vehicle. Hydraulic positioning devices move the container from the snow enclosing position to a position directly over the water tank where the container can be opened and any unmelted snow and ice remaining can be dropped into a hopper communicating to the top of the water tank. A cylinder provides end support to the vehicle prohibiting tilting due to the increased weight of the snow and ice in the cantilever supported container.
