    摘要: An oil boom for containing floating oil spills having an hose with a plurality of tubing members mounted to the periphery of the hose. Each tubing member has a nozzle assembly for directing an air jet stream against an oil spill along the top surface of the water. The oil boom is preferably connected to a tow line by a pair of connecting lines which are in a criss-cross pattern, allowing the hose to form a wave-like configuration so that the air hose may rise and fall with the movement of the surface of the water independent of the tow line.

    摘要: A spraying system to be used on wastewater settling tanks for skimming the top scum layer into a drain. The system includes a spray nozzle that causes the top liquid layer to move in a circular fashion about the center of the tank. The nozzle can be in the form of a wall mounted spray unit that sprays water onto the surface of the contained wastewater. The nozzle can also be in the form of a multiorificed tubular body mounted directly onto the top of the drain trough. Water sprayed from the latter nozzle is directed into the trough and thereby causes a suctioning of the scum layer into the drain. The system can employ either of the nozzles or both nozzles in combination.

    摘要: Impurities are removed from the surface of a liquid by impinging an elongated fluid stream, preferably a gaseous stream, along a length of the surface and moving the impinging stream relative to the surface causing the impurities to move and concentrate in advance of the impinging action of the stream, and thereafter isolating the concentrated mass of impurities. An apparatus is also provided suitable for traversing a body of water and recovering impurities, such as oil and the like from its surface. A preferred apparatus includes a vessel having a pair of elongated booms which are adapted to extend forwardly and outwardly of the motion of the vessel. Each boom extends above the water and carries nozzles which are adapted for form a substantially continuous elongated gaseous stream for impinging upon the water between the booms to thereby concentrate floating impurities between the booms. In addition, the vessel is provided with impurity inlet means between the booms for collecting the concentrated impurities from the water.

    摘要: An apparatus for use in the separation of a floating contaminant from a body of liquid has a rectangular planar sheet with upright wall members on each of two opposed edges and has on one of its other edges an inlet manifold. The inlet manifold has a slot aperture through which is directed a high velocity film of liquid over the sheet. The sheet has at the edge remote from the manifold a collecting device. The sheet is positioned in the liquid so that the film of liquid entrains the floating contaminants and carries them to the collecting device.

    摘要: This patent covers an automatic and autonomous floating purifier consisting of a normally cylindrical and upright housing (1) with numerous compartment (4) each divided into two chambers (5, 7), the outer chamber (5) being supplied with polluted water through inlet openings (6) at water surface level where as the other chamber (7) is acting as a collecting tank for the pollutant, which is sticking to a mobile belt (8); a large number of mobile boxes (13) moving on the water surface by means of sliding or articulated devices, receiving the polluted water; numerous suction pumps (17) each aspirating the water from a set of boxes; one or more discharge outlets in the chamber (5) of the compartments (4) discharging the pollutant radially below the water surface so as to create a toroidal circulation by which the surface pollutants are accumulated and directed towards the chambers (5) of the compartments (4) where the oil is separated from the water by adhesion to the belt (8); a storage tank (20) for the pollutants coming from the various chambers (7) and compartments (4); the storage tank being continuously emptied and drained at intervals by pumping (21). The separately driven recirculating pumps (17) will provide a jet by which the purifier can be moved and steered without needing any other conventional propelling devices. Furthermore, the purifier is fitted with all equipment and connections for completely automated operation and remote control.

Water jets are operatively connected to the hose between the floats, and counterweights are added to uniformly balance the unit. A water pump provides water to the hose which is sprayed by the jets against the oil slick, forcing it to the recovery mechanism.
