    Abstract: A ground compacting machine including a tamping assembly that includes a tamping foot configured to oscillate in a vertical direction for compacting soil. A drive assembly includes a motor connected to the tamping assembly for driving the oscillating movement of the tamping foot. A control assembly includes a controller for controlling operation of the drive assembly. A vibration damping assembly is located between the control assembly and the tamping assembly for damping vibrations to the control assembly from the tamping foot during movement of the tamping foot. The vibration damping assembly includes at least one vertical damper oriented generally in the vertical direction for damping vibrations in the vertical direction, and at least one horizontal damper oriented generally in a horizontal direction being perpendicular to the vertical direction for damping vibrations in the horizontal direction.

    Abstract: A vibratory compactor is provided. The vibratory compactor may include a frame coupled to a compactor plate. The frame and compactor plate are configured to vibrate to compact soil. The vibratory compactor may also include a housing having an inner volume, the housing coupled to the frame by at least one isolator with the frame and the at least one load bearing member located within the inner volume. The housing may be coupled to an arm of an excavator. A gap may be formed between the housing and the frame, wherein the gap between the housing and the frame inhibits movement of the housing with respect to the frame through the housing contacting the frame when excess forces are applied to the housing in an up/down direction, a forward/backward direction, a side-to-side direction, or combinations thereof.

    Abstract: A vibratory compactor is provided. The vibratory compactor may include at least one load bearing member coupled to a load bearing base and a frame coupled to a compactor plate with the load bearing base coupled to the frame. The frame and compactor plate are configured to vibrate. The vibratory compactor may also include a housing having an inner volume, the housing coupled to the frame by at least one isolator with the frame and the at least one load bearing member located within the inner volume. The housing may be coupled to an arm of an excavator. In response to force being applied to the housing by the excavator during compaction, the housing moves with respect to the frame until a top member of the housing contacts the at least one load bearing member and compacts soil more effectively than a vibratory compactor without the load bearing member.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for compacting soil and granular materials. In some embodiments, the soil compaction apparatuses include an arrangement of diametric expansion elements that, in their expanded state, form a larger compaction surface. In another embodiment, a compaction chamber can be provided with diametric restriction elements and a flow-through passage in the upper portion of the chamber exterior of a drive shaft. The diametric expansion or restriction elements can be fabricated from, for example, individual chains, cables, or wire rope, or a lattice of vertically and horizontally connected chains, cables, or wire rope.     Abstract: In one aspect of the disclosure, a cylinder-driven lifting mechanism of a compaction machine includes a cylinder having a first end and a second end, a fixed pulley set, a movable pulley set, a rope having a head end, and a tail end configured to connect a compaction hammer. The first end of the cylinder is connected to a vehicle body of the compaction machine and the second end of the cylinder is connected to the movable pulley set. The rope is wound on the fixed pulley set and the movable pulley set and is then connected to the compaction hammer. When the cylinder performs extension and refraction movement, the movable pulley set moves with the cylinder, the distance between the movable pulley set and the fixed pulley set increases or decreases, and the compaction hammer connected to the tail end of the rope is lifted up or dropped respectively.
