    摘要: A power trowel for treating a concrete surface includes a support frame configured to be moved on the concrete surface. A propane supply vessel is supported by the support frame and is configured to contain propane. The propane supply vessel is positioned to reduce obstructions to the operator's view of the concrete surface. An internal combustion engine is supported by the support frame and is in fluid communication with the propane supply vessel to receive propane therefrom to power the internal combustion engine. One or more rotatable shafts are driven by the internal combustion engine, and one or more trowel blades connect to the one or more rotatable shafts so as to rotate therewith.

    摘要: A drill attachment for smoothing the edges and corners of a concrete slab is disclosed. The drill attachment includes a shaft that is secured or chucked into an electric drill. Pluralities of troweling blades extend from the central shaft and are secured at their ends to maintain their position and orientation. The blades are secured to the trowel at variable or fixed angles that are changeable to suit the finishing need of the operator. In operation the drill attachment is used to smooth the ends and corners of a foundation where larger smoothing trowel machines have difficulty reaching. The power trowel is field installed and removed when needed for use, cleaning and storage. The drill attachment has an independently spinning blade cover extends over the ends of the blades to prevent damage to a wall or other surface when the trowel is in use.

A floor surface finishing device (1) comprises a plane leveling machine (5) having a plurality of rotary blades (4) adapted to be rotated in a propeller manner by the driving force from a motor (3) while keeping in contact with a floor surface to be finished (2), and a planar finishing blade (8) which is connected to the planar leveling machine (5) through a connecting member (6) and which, in this state, is disposed in a portion of the outer peripheral regions of the planes of rotation (7) of the rotary blades (4). Further, on the side opposite to the finishing blade (8) of the plane leveling machine (5), an operating handle (9) for the operator to manipulate the floor surface finishing device (1) is attached. The final finishing operation on the floor surface to be finished (2) can be conducted by placing the floor surface finishing device (1) on the floor surface to be finished (2), rotating the rotary blades (4) by the motor (3) while pulling the operating handle (9) to horizontally move the whole of the floor surface finishing device (1) along the floor surface to be finished (2) in the direction of an arrow A.

    摘要: A method is provided of making and using a walk behind rotary trowel that is “dynamically balanced” so as to minimize the forces/torque that the operator must endure to control and guide the trowel. Characteristics that are accounted for by this method include, but are not limited to, friction, engine torque, machine center of gravity, and guide handle position. As a result, dynamic balancing and consequent force/torque reduction were found to result when the machine's center of gravity was shifted substantially relative to a typical machine's center of gravity. Dynamic balancing can be achieved most practically by reversing the orientation of the engine relative to the guide handle assembly when compared to traditional walk behind rotary trowels and shifting the engine as far as practical to the right. This shifting has been found to reduce the operational forces and torque the operator must endure by at least 50% when compared to traditional machines.

    摘要: A brake of a concrete finishing trowel responds automatically to the cessation of drive torque delivery to the rotor to actively brake the trowel's drive train, hence inhibiting or preventing frame rotation. The brake preferably takes advantages of inherent characteristics of an inclined gear, such as a worm of a gearbox, to permit an internal component of the gearbox to shift automatically upon the cessation of drive torque therethrough from a brake released position to a brake engaged position. In the case of a worm gear-based gearbox, the worm is configured such that reaction forces that are normally generated by the delivery of drive torque therethrough shift the worm to release the brake during normal trowel operation. These forces are eliminated in the absence of drive torque transfer, permitting the worm to shift to a brake engaged position.

In a preferred embodiment, the blade is deformed in the area of the mounting holes, providing an interlocking, clamping surface recessed from the working surface of the blade, so that there is retention of the blade on the trowel machine, even as the blade wears.

    摘要: An aggregate floor including terrazzo and the like and a method for forming the floor on a supporting surface, the floor including a layer of flexible compound applied to the surface, a reinforcement mesh positioned between divider strips and adjacent the compound and supporting a layer of compacted aggregate forming a substantially level surface. The divider strips are selectively positioned in desired configurations on the flexible compound layer to divide the mesh and aggregate into discreet and crack controlled sections. A mixture of composite cement, water, and, in some cases, sand is applied to the surface of the aggregate layer in such a viscosity as to gravitate completely through the aggregate layer and make contact with the underlying layer of flexible compound. Such permeation fills and replaces the air pockets between the aggregate particles and deposits sufficient top coating on the surface of the aggregate to be polished to a finished surface. The method includes the steps of compacting the aggregate in dry form as it is applied to the mesh and thereafter compacting the aggregate together with the composite cement, water and sand, when used, to form the upper surface to be polished.
