摘要:
A transmission utilizing oscillating torque to vary the mechanical power transmitted to a load was previously patented by this inventor (U.S. Pat. Nos. 6,062,096, 6,044,718, and 7,481,127). The transmission has a rotatable input member and a rotatable mass. The transmission also has a member with an eccentric offset, with the rotatable mass rotatably coupled to the offset and being eccentric with respect to the offset. The present invention provides several improvements to the previous patents, including belt or chain for the rotating masses to improve load-carrying capacity and improvements to the control system using inertia control. FIG. 1 shows the fully assembled transmission.
摘要:
An electric variable inertia apparatus uses a servo drive device to drive a planetary gear mechanism to which a load assembly is attached to provide variable and wide-ranging rotational inertia. A planetary frame and a ring gear of the planetary gear mechanism act as two input ends of the electric variable inertia apparatus, and a rotated shaft of a sun gear assembly of the planetary gear mechanism acts as a load terminal. The load assembly is rotated at a controlled rotational velocity with the ring gear to generate a widely ranging rotational inertia to change a dissipating degree of an input energy from the planetary frame. The electric variable inertia apparatus can be used in different fields such as shock absorbers, stabilizers, dampers or vibrators in the automotive field, etc.

An apparatus and method are provided for amplifying, torque and transmitting power using a novel wedge hinge assembly. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, four wedge hinge assemblies cooperating with a specially configured crankshaft and a pair of circular plates, enable the transmission of energy primarily based upon naturally occurring gravitational forces. Each wedge hinge assembly consists of an arm having a weight at its remote end, and is adapted to be pivotally attached at its other end to the crankshaft. In addition, operating as a fulcrum, this weight arm is also pivotally attached to its corresponding wedge hinge, disposed between the two opposite ends of the arm.

A torque converter that uses the reaction of energy storing devices to mechanically convert a given input angular velocity into an output torque. The torque converter is comprised of an input shaft which delivers an oscillatory motion to an inertia device, such as a flywheel, through connecting rods and lever arms. The inertia device transfers the oscillatory motion to the output shaft through differential gears and overrunning clutches. In the preferred embodiment, two inertia devices mounted on parallel axes with each 90.degree. out of phase provide a smooth, continuous output torque.

A centrifugal torque converter having input and output members and centrifugal weight members disposed therebetween. By the revolution force applied to the input member, the centrifugal weight members are caused to rotate along deformed-circle like guides provided in the output member. The input torque supplied to the input member is effectively amplified and transmitted to the output member by the centrifugal force created by the revolution of the centrifugal weights along the deformed-circlelike guides when the velocity ratio between the input and output members is greater than 1:1.

A torque converter of the mechanical type for transmitting power from power means such as a motor to a driven member from which power take-off may be obtained which includes a rotatably mounted ring gear for rotation by the motor having teeth engagable with a drum having a cam groove rotatably mounted on the driven member with one or more weights being guidably mounted on the driven member and engagable with the cam groove so that rotation of the drum by the ring gear moves the weights in a reciprocating manner at a speed proportional to the speed of the ring gear so as to impart periodic inertial forces to the driven member for smoothly transmitting torque from the motor to the driven member throughout the entire speed range from rest to full speed.
