    摘要: An apparatus, system and method for improving air entrainment and sound attenuation of gases being discharged from one or more outlet portions of an exhausting device using an acoustic wind band. The acoustical wind band helps improve entrainment of ambient environmental air with the exhaust gases being discharged from the exhausting device resulting in a tight plume of high velocity flow which improves the effective stack height of the exhausting device. This is achieved by positioning the sections of the acoustical wind band in spaced relation thus forming passages that allow outside ambient environmental air to flow into the acoustical wind band to mix with and dilute the exhausting gas. The sections may also be positioned extending upward and inward at an angle to further enhance the entrainment of ambient environmental air with the flow of exhaust gas from the gas exhaust device. The acoustical wind band also helps to block noise, especially line of sight noise, from the outlet of the exhausting device thereby improving sound attenuation. This may be achieved by having at least a portion of the bottom end of a lowest most section extend into the horizontal plane defined by the line of sight and having at least a portion of the top end and the bottom end of adjacent sections be coplanar, or preferably overlap, one another to block noise generated by the exhaust device or exhaust gas at the discharge from directly exiting the wind band. In addition, the acoustical wind band helps to protect the vena contracta produced by the converging flow (plume)of exhaust gas from environmental conditions, such as for example, wind shear.

    摘要: The present invention involves a draft stabilizing device mounted at the exit end of a draft vent or stack. The device is constructed from first and second cap members made in the form of open-bottomed cones which are substantially broader at their bases than they are high. The cones are joined together at their edges with their axes aligned. The lower cone has a large stack inlet opening at its apex which is connected to a stack. The lower cone also includes a plurality of outlet openings around its periphery. The area of the outlet openings exceeds the cross-sectional area of the stack.

A plurality of exit vent openings in the sidewalls above the louver openings are at least equal to a cross-sectional area of the flue opening. An inner frame and mounting assembly includes a mechanism to both anchor the device to the chimney flue and to level the device.

    摘要: An all weather inlet/exhaust structure (32) for an outdoor furnace (10,12,14) includes a generally rectangular upper compartment (40) having an imperforate upper wall (42) and horizontally louvered, vertical side walls (44) along with an imperforate bottom wall (46) with a generally central opening (48) therein. A lower compartment (56) in the form of an inverted truncated pyramid with its upper wall being defined by the lower wall (46) of the upper compartment is provided. The lower compartment has horizontally louvered, sloped, inwardly directed side walls (58) terminating in an open bottom (60) of smaller size than the first compartment lower wall (46). A generally rectangular inlet air duct (66) depends from the lower edges of the lower compartment side walls (58) and an exhaust duct (26) is disposed within the inlet air duct (66) and extends upwardly through the lower compartment (56) to the generally central opening (48) and the bottom wall (46) of the upper compartment (40).
