    摘要: A safety test circuit for a combustion control apparatus. This safety test circuit is used to check the off-failure of a safety transistor actuating a safety relay which acts to stop the operation of controlled units in the event of mal-combustion or the like, and also to check the on-failure of a control transistor actuating a control relay which controls the controlled units. An operation instruction signal and the collector potential of the safety transistor are applied to a logic circuit including a flip-flop and logic gates so that the off-failure of the safety transistor can be driven to check, utilizing the electrical signal propagation delay time of the elements constituting the logic circuit, before the propagation delay time has elapsed. The logic circuit is also used for similarly checking the on-failure of the control transistor. A check signal may be additionally applied to the logic circuit so that these transistors can be tested during the continuous operation of the combustion control apparatus.

    摘要: A method is disclosed for diagnosing a valve assembly having valve members serially arranged along a flow channel of the valve assembly connecting at least one inlet and at least one outlet of the valve assembly. All of the serially arranged valve members of the valve assembly are opended to allow fluid to flow through the flow channel. The flow of fluid through the flow channel is measured by at least one sensor. At least one of the valve members is openend, and at least one sensor checks for fluid leakage caused by at least one faulted valve member. The at least one sensor may include a flow sensor, e.g., a mass flow sensor.

Energy storage means are employed to accumulate the signals generated by the ionization tube. The stored energy is periodically pulsed to discharge the stored energy in an intermittent manner thereby delaying the generation of a signal representing the absence of a flame. The state of the energy storage means is digitized at the aforesaid periodic rate and is restored generally to its undigitized form before controlling the delayed generation of a flame-out signal.

    摘要: A battery powered ignition and control system for a gas burner includes circuits for controlling a pilot burner, a main burner, a flame sensor and an igniter. Mechanically latched valves, which require power only to switch between and open and closed state are used to control the pilot and main gas. The circuitry spends a majority of time in a powered down state and draws power only when required to interrogate the state of the flame and to perform an ignition sequence as required, as periodically dictated by a watchdog system. The latching valves are electrically pulsed to change state and thus draw very low average power when called upon. Lithium batteries provide system power for a long duration.

    摘要: An electric control is shown for gas furnaces which controls fan motors and ignition controls based on inputs from a room thermostat (32), a high limit control and an ignition control (14) including a gas valve. A flame sense circuit (42, 42') is coupled to a microprocessor (U2) and includes a flameprobe (P1) energized by line power through a capacitor (C3) via a quick connect (QC31). A capacitor (C4) is charged by a 5 volt DC source through resistor (R12) and inputted to an inverter (U3, S2) which provides a low signal to the microprocessor when no flame is present. When a flame is present the capacitor (C4) discharges through the flame causing the inverter to change state providing a high to the microprocessor indicating that a flame is present. A diagnostic network comprising a low leakage diode (CR10) and serially connected resistor (R11) is coupled between the microprocessor (pin 8) and the input of the inverter (U3) so that the operation of the flame sense circuit can be tested. In an alternate embodiment CMOS switches (S1, S2) are used both to verify that the flame sense circuit is properly wired and to simulate a no-flame condition.

    摘要: Disclosed is a valve control circuit for fuel burners and the like. Energy is received by an energy storage circuit and periodically is rapidly removed therefrom and transferred to a pulse circuit. The pulse circuit, responsive only to pulses, receives the energy pulses on discharge and provides a valve activating signal in response thereto. The system is failsafe inasmuch as component failure prevents the pulses from being supplied to the pulse circuit. Furthermore, limit apparatus prevents sufficient power from being directly supplied from the power source to the valve to cause actuation. Two timers are also provided to cause system lock out in the event of failure to ignite. Either timer is sufficient by itself to cause lock out so that if one of the timers fails, lock out is still achieved.

    摘要: A safety device for an industrial boiler (CHA) including electromechanical relays (REn, RS), which are connected in series in order to form an electromechanical safety chain (CH1), and at least one shunt relay (RTn) which is normally open and mounted in parallel to one of the electromechanical relays (REN). The shunt relay is controlled by an automaton (AP1) so that it is closed during a time delay. The shunt relay (RTn) is provided with a contact that is connected to an electronic circuit (CEn) and said electronic circuit (CEn) opens an electromechanical relay (RS) which is mounted in series in the safety chain when the shunt relay (RTn) is closed for longer than the time delay. Given the arrangement, in the event of an automaton failure, the time delay is ensured by the electronic circuit so that a satisfactory level of safety is guaranteed in relation to the installation.
