    摘要: An apparatus for mounting a gas washing sink in a centered manner within an opening through a perforated brick in a wall of a metallurgical vessel and for removing the sink from the perforated brick includes a support assembly to be fixedly mounted on the exterior of the wall of the metallurgical vessel adjacent the opening in the perforated brick. A fastening assembly supports the sink and is mounted with respect to the support assembly for movement relative thereto between an operating position, whereat the sink is pressed into the opening through the perforated brick in a centered manner, and a maintenance position, whereat the sink is withdrawn from the opening through the perforated brick. Structures moves the fastening assembly relative to the support assembly to the operating position. A withdrawal apparatus moves the fastening assembly relative to the support assembly from the operating position to the maintenance position.

    摘要: A method is provided for installing a refractory lining in a blast furnace or other metallurgical vessel. A consumable form is installed along an inner surface of an outer shell of the metallurgical vessel. The consumable form is spaced apart from the outer shell. The metallurgical vessel is then filled with burden, which supports the consumable form. Casting composition may then be inserted between the consumable form and the outer shell. The casting composition is heated for a period of time before the burden is ignited. Cables which are lowered from the top of the vessel and secured at a lower end of the vessel may be used. Tubes mounted on panels may be threaded along the cables to position the panels in constructing the consumable form.

    摘要: A method of repairing damaged hot refractory linings in high-temperature vessels includes forming an opening through the outer shell of the vessel proximate to the damaged region of the hot refractory lining, and introducing a refractory material into the damaged region. The refractory material is rapidly injected in a sufficient amount to effect complete filling, and is fast curing to strength at the operating temperature of the vessel. The method eliminates the need to allow the vessel to cool down to ambient temperature and then reheat the vessel to operating temperature thereby eliminating thermal cycling of the refractory lining.

    摘要: In this process, there is carried out first of all, through orifices formed in the wall of the apparatus and by means of a suitable device, the injection of a first product for filling in the vicinity of the inner face of this wall the porosities of the charge and forming a whole with this charge. After a suitable period of time which ensures that the aforementioned effect is achieved, there is injected a second product which must form the permanent coating under sufficient pressure to be able to slip between the inner wall and the first coat previously formed by taking advantage of the compressibility of the charge. In this way it is possible to spread in a substantially uniform manner on the inner wall of the furnace a product which is capable of constituting the lining. This product is closely applied to the inner wall owing to the pressure of injection without this product contacting the charge of the furnace, the latter having preformed in the course of the operation the function of the necessary temporary form. The process finds application in particular in blast-furnaces.

    摘要: An apparatus repairs a perforated brick employed in a wall of a metallurgical vessel and having an opening into which is to be fit a gas washing sink for introducing gas into molten metal within the metallurgical vessel, during which gas introduction the inner end of the gas washing sink and the perforated brick around such area become worn. The apparatus includes a casing having an outer contour corresponding to the outer contour of the gas washing sink and to be inserted into the worn opening of the perforated brick upon removal therefrom of the worn gas washing sink. The casing thus forms a template defining the contour of the opening to be repaired in the worn portion of the perforated brick. A repair material feed pipe extends through and is guided by the casing for supplying therethrough repair material for repairing the worn portion of the perforated brick. A spray head is attached to the inner end of the feed pipe for directing the repair material toward the worn portion of the perforated brick.
