An accessory mounting apparatus is provided for coupling to a vehicle roll bar. The accessory mounting apparatus illustratively includes a driver side clamping device configured to be secured to a driver side upright of the roll bar, and a passenger side clamping device configured to be secured to the passenger side upright of the roll bar. Protective sleeves cooperate with the clamping devices to protect the roll bar from damaging contact therewith. A laterally extending cross member extends between the driver side clamping device and the passenger side clamping device.

A gun mount for mounting a weapon to a vehicle includes a weapon mount plate defining a planar surface. First and second side plates are oriented at an angle to the weapon mount plate planar surface. Front and rear plates are perpendicular to the weapon mount plate and the first and second side plates supporting the weapon mount plate and fixed to the first and second side plates. A male tab extends from both the first and second side plates. A female slot is created in individual ones of both the front and rear plates. The female slot is aligned to slidably receive the male tab with a male tab freely extending portion extending beyond the female slot. A tab weld joint created at the freely extending portion of the male tab fixes the first and second side plates to the front and rear plates.

Armament apparatus is provided for an aircraft having an interior area. The armament apparatus includes a horizontally disposed, generally plank-shaped elongated support beam member having top and bottom sides, a longitudinally intermediate section extending transversely through the interior area, and an outer end portion extending outwardly beyond an exterior side of the aircraft and having top and bottom sides and laterally opposite side edges. The outer support beam end portion, along at least a substantial portion of its length is laterally narrower than the intermediate section of the support beam member. This permits a crew member to sit on the support beam member, with his legs outside the aircraft and downwardly straddling the outer support beam end portion, and operate a crew-served weapon on the top side of the outer end portion of support beam member.

Disclosed herein is an interface pallet assembly for use between the cabin deck of a helicopter and a large, heavy weapon system. The assembly incorporates a self-contained truss assembly designed to support a cantilevered platform, external to the helicopter's cabin, to which the weapon system's turret is attached. Existing deck connection points are utilized to secure the interface pallet assembly to the cabin deck. The interface pallet assembly adds 20E to the downward angle of fire of the weapon system and provides for azimuth rotation of 180E. The present assembly possesses the rotational stiffness required by the turret stabilization system in order to maintain firing accuracy during burst mode sequences. The interface pallet assembly is fabricated of a variety of strong, lightweight materials so as to not unduly add to the overall weight of the helicopter and its payload, and provides storage or mounting locations for accessories associated with the turret and weapon system.
Abstract:
A weapon mount for controlling targeting of a weapon includes a base, an arm that extends from the base, and an attachment component that is rotatably coupled with the arm. The base is attachable to a platform and is rotatable to control a yaw of the weapon relative to the platform. The attachment component is configured to couple with the weapon and is rotatable to control a pitch of the weapon relative to the platform. The arm is positioned relative to the base so that a recoil vector of the weapon is within 0.5 inches radially of an axis of rotation of the base.
Abstract:
A quick release mounting system that utilizes two opposing plate assemblies configured for attachment. The two opposing plate assemblies are configured for attachment by a pair of spaced apart posts positioned in a male plate assembly connecting to a female plate assembly. The pair of spaced apart posts has an actuator mechanism positioned within the posts, and a series of ball bearing around a circumference of the posts. In a preferred embodiment the actuation mechanism is configured to bias the ball bearing out from the circumference of each of the posts, with the actuation mechanism configured to release the outer bias on the ball bearings. Alternatively, the actuation mechanism can be configured such that the actuation mechanism biases the ball bearings out when the mechanism is actuated by a user. The actuation mechanism can utilize a mechanical actuator, such as a rotary or linear actuator, or an electro-mechanical actuator, which utilizes a mechanical actuator that is actuated by an electrical device, such as a solenoid.

The bearing includes a cylindrical housing insertable into the orifice of the platform with a housing axis oriented vertically in relation to the platform, the housing having a closed bottom end and an open top end; a scraper that attaches to the bottom end of the housing for receiving compressive load from underneath; a crown roller disposed to extend radially from the housing; a shaft coaxial with the crown roller disposed within the housing along a roller axis perpendicular to the housing axis; and a cap that covers the open top end of the housing.
