Abstract: A non-contact material assessment system and method are provided. In embodiments, a system includes: a radiation source generating a pattern of diffracted elements; a detector configured to: capture a first image of a first diffracted element when a sample is in an initial state, and a second image when the sample is in a second state; and capture a first image of a second diffracted element when the sample is in the initial state, and a second image when the sample is in the second state; and a controller to: determine a displacement of the first diffracted element based on the first and second images of the first diffracted element; determine a displacement of the second diffracted element based on the first and second images of the second diffracted element; and determine a characteristic of the sample over based on the displacement of the first and second diffracted elements.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a compound made by copolymerizing a poly(ethylene glycol) acrylate with a first acrylate monomer having a first functional group that interacts with a third functional group having a third functional group type selected from anionic groups, cationic groups, or perfluoroalkyl groups. Optionally, the copolymerization includes a second acrylate monomer having a second functional group that interacts with a fourth functional group having a fourth functional group type selected from anionic groups, cationic groups, and perfluoroalkyl groups. The third functional group type and the fourth functional group type are different. When the compound is porous, as when made by high internal phase emulsion polymerization, it may be used for per- and poly-fluoro alkyl substance decontamination.

Abstract: An inflatable deployable mast fairing assembly is provided with a rigid foundation, a hydrodynamic fairing and at least one soft actuator. The hydrodynamic fairing is shaped to close an aperture formed between a deployable hardware system and a sail bay opening. A first soft actuator connects to the rigid foundation at one end and to the hydrodynamic fairing at another. Fluid pressurization elongates a first soft actuator coaxial to the deployable hardware system to fittedly position the fairing in the aperture with a void in the fairing to receive the hardware system. If the rigid foundation is sail-mounted, a second soft actuator connects to the sail-mounted foundation opposite the first soft actuator and to a counter flange mechanically connected to the hydrodynamic fairing. A second pressurization elongates the second soft actuator coaxial to the deployable hardware system to retract the hydrodynamic fairing from the aperture.

Abstract: A trailing wire antenna connector comprising: a spool; a trailing line and a conductive socket. The trailing line is configured to be wound around the spool and consists of a non-conductive line segment joined to a conductive wire segment via a conductive plug. The non-conductive line segment is connected to the spool. The conductive socket is configured to be mounted to a fuselage so as to be electrically insulated from the fuselage and electrically connected to a feed line of an RF receiver. The conductive socket has an opening through which the conductive wire segment may pass but that is too small for the conductive plug to pass such that when the conductive plug comes into contact with the conductive socket the conductive wire segment is electrically connected to the feed line.

Abstract: A method that includes receiving user input associated with identifying a threshold point associated with a classification task, identifying, a machine learning model, in the first set of visual data, a machine placement candidate point associated with identifying the threshold point, and identifying, based on the machine placement candidate point, a set of baseline confidence values via a baseline uncertainty model. The method includes training the machine learning model based on a determined state space by identifying, subsequent sets of visual data additional threshold points, receiving user feedback indicating an accuracy, comparing the baseline confidence values with locations associated with the additional threshold points, generating reward values based on an identified amount of error, and configuring the machine learning model based on the reward values. The method includes identifying in a second set of visual data, via the trained machine learning model, a visual feature associated with the classification task.

Abstract: Provided is a gyroscope stabilized gimbal assembly for collecting and timestamping video data and laser measurement data. The assembly can be used on multiple platforms and provides an ISR video camera system and one or more laser measurement devices, including photodetectors, thermopiles, filters, and analog to digital converters. The components are mounted to a bracket that can be installed and removed from the assembly to collect/record measurement data from the devices interacting with the laser beam. A processor collects and records measurement data from the devices interacting with the laser beam and calculates optical power data, irradiance data, and wavelength data. A storage device stores a first set of data comprising video data from said camera system and a second set of data comprising optical power data, irradiance data, and wavelength data, wherein said first and second set of data are timestamped, separated, and not comingled.

Abstract: A junctional tourniquet apparatus and related methods of use. An exemplary tourniquet has an inverted cone shape, wherein a narrower end has a mushroom shaped base that is pressed against a compression target and a broader end has a plurality of pass-through slots for straps. Another exemplary tourniquet has a broad plate component and a handle component. The handle component has a mushroom shaped base on a first end and a handle on a second end. The handle component passes through the center of the plate component with threads that allow the handle component to compress a target by twisting the handle.
