    摘要： A shotgun cartridge system includes a shotgun shell and a detachable cap. The cap fits within the casing atop the open end so as to close the casing and prevent the projectiles from falling out. An edge recess on the cap enables finger-nail removal of the cap. An injection port enables injection of a coating substance onto the projectiles. The inside wall of the casing may have a projection to snap connect the cap in the casing. The cap then has a mating projection recessed into the cap-wall and structured to snap in place below the projection on the casing when the cap-wall is slid into the casing. Alternatively, the projection is placed so as to form a thread around the inside wall and the cap's mating projection engages the thread when the cap-wall is slid, rotated and tightened against the thread.

    摘要： Projectiles and projectile systems are provided herein employing an inhibiting and/or marking substance for impairing/marking a living target. In some embodiments, the systems include a primer only launched projectile system. The primer only launched projectile systems can include a shell, a primer, a propulsion shock damper and the projectiles. In some embodiments the systems can be used with standard shotguns or other standard guns. In some implementations, the primer can be a percussion or electrically activated primer. The propulsion shock damper is located within the shell such that a seal is formed between the propulsion shock damper and the shell casing. The relatively low kinetic projectiles are intended to be non-lethal, less than lethal or less lethal in nature, such that the projectiles impact a body with safe kinetics as not to penetrate the body in a lethal manner.

The grenade is formed such that when it is arranged for use the sabot 2 is fitted to the case 1, the projectile or projectiles 18 are within the space, and the cover 3 is fitted around the petals 18 wherein end parts of the petals bend towards one another to substantially encapsulate the projectile or projectiles 18. The grenade is formed such that when it is in use and is fired from a suitable rifle a charge in the case causes the sabot 2 and the projectile or projectiles 18 to be propelled forward and punch through the cover 3 such that the projectile or projectiles 18 are released from the sabot 2 to a target.

    摘要： A method and device (A) for cutting a shotgun shell (14) for shooting in a shotgun chambered for shorter shotgun shells includes a base (10) and shell receiving tube (12). A shell (14) is held in tube (12) above a knife (32) in such a manner that a circumferential slit is formed in shell casing (20) around the inside edge (24) of crimp (22). The knife is carried on a movable knife blade holder (40) which moves toward base (10) to engage the knife in the crimped edge as the shell is rotated. Upon shooting of shell (14), the crimp material separates from casing (20) leaving the shell of a shorter length. In this manner a two and one half inch (21/2") shell is obtained from a two and three-quarter inch (23/4") and three inch (3") shells which may be reloaded or disposed of.

    摘要： A cartridge case closure plug for closing a cartridge case, enhancing plugreakup in the shortest time span after ignition of the cartridge, and substantially reducing plug mass to reduce the impact loads exerted on the projectile by the plug. The plug is cylindrically shaped and constructed of a polymeric foam which may be covered with an elastomeric coating to lower the permeability of the plug. The plug is provided with a forward face, a rearward face and an outer cylindrical surface. The forward face of the plug is furnished with a centered depression which allows for center blowout and breakup of the plug upon ignition of the propellant contained in the cartridge case. The rearward face of the plug is provided with a tapered cylindrically-shaped cavity which reduces plug mass and enhances plug breakup while reducing the impact loads on the projectile. The plug is also furnished with a passageway communicating the tapered cylindrical cavity with the outer cylindrical surface of the plug so as to release air entrapped between the plug and the propellant bed when the plug is inserted in the cartridge case.

A charge is contained in the case and retained by an overshot plug which is a friction fit in the case. The sidewall has a thickness of not less than 0.5 mm and may have a formation for engaging a formation on the plug to locate the plug in position.Shotshell components can be provided as a kit which may include two identical plugs each having a closed air bleed hole which can be extended to pass through the plug. A plug with a completed hole can be used as an overpowder plug while the overshot plug can be used with the hole closed.
