    摘要: A method of determining a radius of a cutting end of a tool for a turning machine using a touch probe is provided. One of the cutting end and the touch probe is movable relative to a reference frame having a first axis and a second axis and having a reference point trackable in the reference frame. The method comprises establishing a first contact point and recording a first coordinate of the reference point on the first axis; establishing a second contact point and recording a second coordinate of the reference point on the second axis; establishing a third contact point and recording a third coordinate of the reference point on the first axis and a fourth coordinate of the reference point on the second axis upon contact; and determining a radius of the cutting end based on the first, second, third and fourth coordinates.

    摘要: A method of evaluating material properties of polymeric materials includes making one or more material samples or slabs, with each of the samples or slabs having a pair of material layers in contact with one another. The layers are layers of organic matrix polymer material that have different characteristics from each other, for example having a difference in composition and/or cure characteristics. Characteristics of the test slabs and the interface between the layers can be determined by examining curvatures of the test slabs. A number of samples may be made up having the same material in a first layer, and range of different materials in the respective second layers. The range may cover a range of various material compositions and/or cure characteristics.

    摘要: A tool for measuring an object having a circularly curved surface provides a generally rectilinear body defining a V notch having two converging sides meeting at an apex and an angulated wedge track. A wedge movable along the wedge track and across the V notch intersects a bisector of the V notch at an angle other than perpendicular. Sides of the V notch and a measuring edge of the wedge simultaneously contact the circular curve at three equally spaced apart positions along the circumference of the circular curve. Measuring indicia on the body adjacent the wedge track allows determination of the lateral movement of the wedge along the wedge track. The distance the wedge moves on the wedge track is equal to the radius of the circular curve.

    摘要: Disclosed is a multi-purpose measuring gauge in which three probes are secured to and movable with respect to a T-shaped housing. Two outer probes are secured to members which are slideable along parallel slots in the housing. The probe members comprise a rack and are moved by a pinion. The pinion is coupled to a micrometer caliper. The dual travel of the rack and pinion thereby retains the respective relationship between the two probes and the third probe, which is disposed equidistant between the two probes. The stem of the T of the housing has therethrough the third probe. All of the axes of the probes are parallel. The ends of the two outer probes are co-planar. The third probe is moved perpendicularly with respect to that plane by means of another micrometer caliper rotatably secured to the housing. The facing sides of the two outer probes are planar to aid in making measurements. Indicia on each caliper provides a direct reading to make a variety of measurements.
