A method of providing golf contents in a mobile terminal is disclosed. The method includes calculating the current location of the mobile terminal and a cup distance, displaying hole information if the cup distance is greater than a first critical distance, displaying green information if the cup distance is less than or equal to the first critical distance and greater than a second critical distance, and displaying a score record screen if the cup distance is less than or equal to the second critical distance.

A stand-alone, mechanical, measuring wheel apparatus with a wheel and odometer. The apparatus is quickly, easily and removably attached to a golf cart by a simple attachment. The attachment, itself, is comprised of a simple clamp arrangement which is also easily attached and removed from a golf cart. The invention apparatus is stand-alone and does not require any modifications to the golf cart.

An apparatus for measuring distance in the game of golf includes an electro-mechanical DriveGauge.TM. which is provided with a large, easy-to-read display and which registers the player's strides in yards. The apparatus is preferably contained in an attractive housing having a belt clip and the display is mounted "upside down" so that the player may read the display without removing the apparatus from his/her belt. A large prominently colored reset button is preferably provided adjacent to the display so that the display may be quickly and easily reset to zero after a measurement is noted by the player. According to a presently preferred embodiment of the invention, an electromechanical transducer is coupled through a noise filter to a counter which is coupled through a display control and driver to a large four digit LCD display. A clock oscillator is coupled to a system clock unit which provides clock signals for the noise filter and the display control and driver. A stride register is set by a setting unit and provides output to the counter. The noise filter prevents extraneous mechanical vibration of the unit from registering as a player's stride. The LCD display preferably displays up to 999.9 yards in increments of 0.1 yards. In order to set the stride register, the player inputs the distance in feet using the setting unit using a single button which is pressed repeatedly, each press representing 0.1 feet.

A scorekeeper and distance indicator for use with a golf cart measures distance traversed by the golf cart and uses the measured distance in conjunction with stored information about a hole being played to determine the remaining distance to the pin. The apparatus displays the remaining distance, the number of the hole being played and a cumulative score. The apparatus is adaptable to store scores and other information for a plurality of players. A portion of the apparatus that includes a memory device can be removed from the golf cart and taken to a remote location to read or print scores. The increasing use of golf carts, and especially of powered golf carts, makes it feasible to use an odometer to measure the distance traversed by the golf cart. The availability of inexpensive microprocessor chips makes it feasible to combine information from an odometer or the like about measured distances with stored information about the characteristics of a golf course. This enables a user such as a golfer to determine and display the distance to the pin from a particular lie, and thus to remove some guesswork from the game. It is also possible to enter current score information into a memory that is associated with a microprocessor to provide a score that can be read out at the end of a round or any other desired time.

A golf flagstick with an attached digital odometer wherein the odometer is placed at the top of the flagstick. When the distance between a golf ball and a hole is to be determined, the flagstick is removed from the hole, turned upside down, and wheeled between the golf ball and hole. As the wheel of the odometer is rolled along the green, the distance is recorded and displayed by a digital display. A writing pad can also be attached to the flagstick so that scores, distances and other appropriate data can be recorded.

A method for calibrating a wheel speed detection system, comprising at least one wheel speed sensor and at least one electronic control unit. The at least one wheel speed sensor output signal is evaluated in the electronic control unit and the evaluation is adapted to a distance information item which is acquired from a traveled reference distance.

A personal owned palm-held device consisting of software executed on a palm-held personal computer (PC) saddled into and connected directly to a dGPS receiver such that an individual golf player may map a golf course by traversing its attributes, displaying said map and collecting golf play data for any golf course. In addition, the ability to upload and download golf course maps to an Internet web site shall reduce the need for subsequent users to repeat the effort of mapping the same course more than once. Also, downloadable courses will facilitate the use of the palm-held PC by users that do not have a dGPS attachment. When used without a dGPS attachment, ball locations will be determined manually by estimating the ball location with reference to visual salient course attributes.

A player position determining and course management system for a golf course having a plurality of roving units for use by players in playing the course is disclosed. Each roving unit includes a central processing unit (CPU) including a data processor for executing various tasks ranging from fastest execution of a task to slowest execution of a task on a schedule of priorities of task completion, a real-time means for controlling the processor to give the tasks priority ranging from fastest execution of a task with highest priority to slowest execution of a task with lowest priority, and a means for precisely timing functions of the system including modulating means utilizing a common digital modulation technique for digitally modulating data transmitted to and from all of the roving units. Each of the roving units include a monitor for displaying the golf course including each of the holes with its tee box, fairway, green, cup and hazards, as well as the position of the roving unit on the course in real time. Additionally, the system includes a course management base station for transmitting and receiving information to the roving units and a monitor for displaying the the location of each roving unit on the golf course in real time.
