    摘要: An electric power steering system includes a motor, rotation angle sensors, a determination unit, and a control unit. The determination unit determines whether each rotation angle sensor has a failure by one of determination methods depending on whether a situation is a first situation where one of the rotation angle sensors has a failure or a second situation where the rotation angle sensors have no failures. In the first situation, the control unit continues to control driving of the motor based on a rotation angle of the motor detected by a remaining rotation angle sensor having no failure. Only when determining, in the first situation, whether there is a failure in the remaining rotation angle sensor, the determination unit determines whether there is a failure based on whether a steering torque exhibits a specific behavior assumed to be detected when there is a failure in the remaining rotation angle sensor.

The optical scale includes a plurality of wires provided thereon so that the wires do not intersect each other and each of the tangential directions of the respective wires changes continuously. The optical encoder includes the optical scale, a light source, an optical sensor, and a computing unit. The optical sensor includes a first polarizing layer that splits incident light that is light source light from the light source passed through or reflected on the optical scale and being incident on the first polarizing layer to a first polarization direction, a second polarizing layer that splits the incident light to a second polarization direction, a first photoreceiver that receives first polarized light split by the first polarizing layer, and a second photoreceiver that receives second polarized light split by the second polarizing layer.

    摘要: The torque detection apparatus detects torque using torsion of a torsion bar. The torque detection apparatus includes a first rotating shaft and a second rotating shaft connected with a torsion bar in which torsion is produced when torque is applied, at least one optical scale that moves with rotations of the first rotating shaft and the second rotating shaft, at least one optical sensor that is paired with the optical scale, and detects the polarization of transmissive light or reflected light, the polarization varying depending on a position where light source light is passed through or reflected on the optical scale, and a computing unit that computes a relative rotational angle of the optical scale with respect to the optical sensor, and computes rotational displacements of the first rotating shaft and the second rotating shaft.

    摘要: A system for measuring torque to which a body is subjected by twisting the body about an axis defined thereby. The system includes one or more fiber Bragg gratings secured to the body. Each of the fiber Bragg gratings is positioned so that the fiber Bragg grating is located at least partially non-parallel with the axis of the body. The system also includes one or more light sources for providing light transmittable to the fiber Bragg grating(s). The light transmitted to the fiber Bragg grating(s) is filtered thereby to provide a modified light having one or more characteristic spectra. The sys tem also includes an analyzer for analyzing said at least one characteristic spectrum to determine the torque to which the body is subjected.

A first torsion reference member is fixedly coupled to the rotating member at a first axial position and a second torsion reference member is fixedly coupled to the rotating member at a second axial position. A first detector detects the passage of the first torsion reference member past the first detector upon each full rotation of the rotating member and to generate a first signal upon each passage of the first torsion reference member. A second detector detects the passage of the second torsion reference member past the second detector upon each full rotation of the rotating member and to generate a second signal upon each passage of the second torsion reference member. A controller calculates a phase difference between the first signal and the second signal relative during rotation of the rotating member under a torsional load.
