In a structure and a method of data synchronization for multi measuring apparatuses, the multi measuring apparatuses link together to expand channels. One of those apparatuses is a master control measuring apparatus, and others are slave measuring apparatus. The master measuring apparatus can output synchronous signal to the slave measuring apparatuses. The slave measuring apparatus can retrieve the synchronous signal as a mark of data synchronization, and the synchronous signal and the marks are further stored in a memory. All the data and marks stored in the memory of the measuring apparatuses are transferred to a processing platform. By the software installed in the processing platform, the data wave form length of the master control measuring apparatus and slave measuring apparatus can be adjusted to the same, and the problem caused by the clock error of the measuring apparatus can be solved as well.

There has been provided, in accordance with the present invention, a cathode ray tube recording system which includes means for superimposing grid lines on the resulting record. The grid lines so-recorded for each complete record are not shifted. At the beginning of each new record, however, a randomly selected bias is applied to the grid line positioning circuit whereby the grid lines are started on a fresh phosphor position for each subsequent recording but selected on a random basis.

The beam of a cathode-ray tube, normally suppressed, is electromagnetically deflected by a triangular current in the x direction and by a sinusoidal current of substantially higher frequency in the y direction, thereby producing an invisible grid on the oscilloscope screen. Whenever the y-deflection signal matches an input signal to be visualized, the beam is turned on for a small fraction of a y-sweep cycle during which the y sweep is interrupted whereby a short horizontal trace is produced on the screen. For tracing a horizontal base line in response to a given reference signal, the x sweep may be momentarily accelerated to the frequency of the y sweep which in this case is interrupted for a full cycle; this acceleration takes place on every nth intersection of the y sweep with the imaginary base line.

A ramp voltage is provided to a particular amplitude upon each occurrence of an ignition signal for a cylinder in a multicylinder engine. The slope of the ramp voltage is changed as the rate of occurrence of the ignition signals in the multicylinder engine varies. When the amplitude of the ramp voltage reaches the particular level, the ramp voltage is terminated until the occurrence of the next ignition signal. A sweep is produced in accordance with the ramp voltage. When the frequency or angular velocity of the multicylinder engine is to be tested, the ramp voltage is produced at the same slope as in the previous paragraph. However, the ramp voltage is produced to a level dependent upon the rate of occurrence of ignition signals. The level of this ramp voltage indicates the rate of occurrence of the ignition signals. The level of the ramp voltage is also measured in each cycle of sequential firing of the multiple number of cylinders, upon a failure of a particular one of the cylinders to fire in each cycle, to indicate the speed of the engine.
