    摘要: A forward viewing device allows a cyclist having a head down position to view a scene forward of a bicycle. The device includes a prism fixed to a support which is connected to the bicycle forward of the cyclist. An image of the scene is transmitted through a forward facing surface of the prism, reflected internally by at least two surfaces of the prism, and transmitted to the cyclist through a prism surface as an image which is not mirrored left to right or turned upside down. In an embodiment, multiple prisms are positioned with adjacent ends, to increase the horizontal field of view. In another embodiment, multiple prisms are offset vertically, to increase the vertical field of view. In another embodiment, the device has a single optical element and does not require alignment.

    摘要: A reflecting prism has an input surface, an output surface, a first reflection surface, a second reflection surface, and a third reflection surface. The reflecting prism has a first refractive index, such that the first, second, and third reflection surfaces interface with an external medium having a second refractive index less than the first refractive index. This interface defines a critical angle for total internal reflection for each of the first, second, and third reflection surfaces. Light is received at the input surface of a prism body of a reflecting prism and is transmitted along a first internal optical path segment of an optical path to the first reflection surface. The angle of incidence of the first internal optical path segment with respect to the first reflection surface is greater than the critical angle for the first reflection surface, thereby causing the light to be reflected via total internal reflection.

    摘要: A direct view telescopic sight includes objective lens, eyepiece, and prism erector assemblies. The objective lens assembly is mounted to receive light of an image from an object direction and direct the light along an optical path. The eyepiece assembly is mounted to receive the light along the optical path and to emit the light of the image along an eye-ward direction. The prism erector assembly is positioned between the objective lens and eyepiece assemblies and includes first and second prism elements through which the optical path passes. The first and second prism elements invert the image. A reticle element is disposed on or adjacent to a surface of one of the first or second prism elements to combine a reticle on the image. The image is brought into focus at only a single focal plane between the objective lens and eyepiece assemblies at a given time.

    摘要: Techniques are disclosed for creating optical systems and devices that provide through-sight information while enabling the optical systems and devices to maintain a small, lightweight form factor. According to certain embodiments of the invention, an optical assembly can include a liquid-crystal display (LCD) disposed between the two prism elements of a Schmidt-Pechan prism at a focal plane of the optical assembly. This allows the LCD to be used to display information by blocking light passing through the optical assembly. Additionally, a light-emitting display, such as a backlit LCD, light-emitting diode (LED) display, or organic LED (OLED) display, can be coupled at a surface of one of the two prism elements of the Schmidt-Pechan prism to provide additional information in low-light environments.

    摘要: The image display apparatus is capable of reducing moire fringe when electric inverse-correction is performed on an image output to an image display element. The apparatus includes an optical system for observation of an image displayed on an image display element, a processor performing distorting processing that electrically provides to an input image a distortion in a direction inverse to that of distortion as aberration generated by the optical system, and a filter providing a low-pass filter effect to the image observed through the optical system. When a first image region including a first number of pixels in the input image is converted into a second image region including a second number of pixels by the distorting processing, the filter provides the low-pass filter effect depending on the relationship between the first and second numbers of pixels to the second image region.
