    摘要: In order to provide a high performance optical mixer having good yield, an optical mixer comprises: a first light branching means that branches a first input light into a plurality of first lights including a first output light and a second output light, and outputs the first lights; a second light branching means that branches a second input light into a plurality of second lights including a third output light and a fourth output light, and outputs the second lights; and a first light coupling and branching means and a second light coupling and branching means that couple the first and the third output lights and the second and the fourth output lights respectively, and branching the coupled lights into at least two, and outputting each of the branched lights as a coupled-and-branched light, wherein propagation paths for the third and the fourth output lights comprise widths that cause a prescribed optical path length difference to occur between the third and the fourth output lights, and propagation path lengths for the first and the second output lights are approximately equal and propagation path lengths for the third and the fourth output lights are approximately equal.

    摘要: First and second laser beams are incident on a difference frequency mixing unit, and the two laser beams overlap in the difference frequency mixing unit, thereby generating a terahertz wave whose frequency is a frequency difference between the two laser beams. Each laser beam has a spatial spread in a frequency gradient direction, and a spatial frequency distribution of each laser beam is a distribution in which a magnitude of a frequency gradually increases in the frequency gradient direction. A frequency difference between the two laser beams is equal in each position in an overlapping region of the two laser beams. A terahertz wave of a single frequency is generated from this overlapping region. By spatially shifting the first laser beam and the second laser beam with respect to each other in the frequency gradient direction, the frequency difference in the overlapping region is changed, which changes the single frequency.

    摘要: Terahertz waves are generated by modulating the output of a cw laser to produce an optical signal with equally spaced frequency components. The modulated optical signal is supplied to a nonlinear optical waveguide in which it undergoes self-phase modulation, thereby producing at least two further frequency components that are separated by a desired frequency in the terahertz gap and have a sufficient magnitude. An optical filter selects the two frequency components, which are directed to a photomixer, that produces an electrical signal with the same frequency as the beat frequency. The photomixer is biased, and coupled to an antenna, so that the resulting electrical signal causes an electromagnetic wave having a frequency in the terahertz range to propagate from the antenna.

    摘要: In a radio optical fusion communication system with the integration of an optical fiber transmission path and a radio propagation path, wherein by first and second light sources, an intermediate-frequency signal generating means for generating a modulating signal at an intermediate frequency band, a modulator for modulating an optical signal from the first light source into an SSB modulated optical signal using the intermediate-frequency signal, and an optical mixer for mixing the modulated optical signal with the optical signal from the second light source to obtain an optical transmission signal in a base station, the frequency of either of the optical signals is controlled such that the difference in frequency between the optical signals is a desired frequency of a modulated radio signal, thus switching the frequency channel of the modulated radio signal in the radio propagation path.
