    摘要: An exposure portion scans, in an axial direction, light which is emitted from a light source based on image data of a document sheet, and applies the light to surfaces of image carriers, to form an electrostatic latent image on each image carrier. The cleaning member is disposed so as to contact with each image carrier and removes residual toner on each image carrier, to perform cleaning. The driving mechanism causes each image carrier to shuttle in the axial direction with a predetermined amplitude while the image carrier is driven to rotate. The detecting member detects positional information representing a position, in the axial direction, obtained when each image carrier shuttles. The control portion controls, based on a result of detection by the detecting member, a time when scanning on each of the image carriers by the exposure portion is to be started.

    摘要: A conveying unit conveys a recording sheet. A carriage comprises a process unit for forming a latent image and developing it so as to produce a developed image on an image carrier having a rotation axis parallel to a direction along which the conveying unit conveys the recording sheet, and a fixing unit using a fixing member for fixing the developed image to the recording sheet after the developed image has been transferred to the recording sheet. A transfer unit transfers the developed image produced on the image carrier to the recording sheet. A moving unit moves the carriage on the transfer unit along a direction perpendicular to the direction along which the conveying unit conveys the recording sheet, the carriage thus repeating a go-and-return operation in which the carriage fixes a line of the developed image onto the recording sheet while moving and then returns to a predetermined position. A heating unit heats the fixing member to a predetermined temperature. A measuring unit measures the temperature of the fixing member. A heating control unit drives the heating unit so as to make the temperature of the fixing member be the predetermined temperature based on the temperature measured by the measuring unit, the driving being performed either when the carriage is located at the predetermined position or while the carriage is returning to the predetermined position after the go-and-return operations has been performed a predetermined number of times.

    摘要: A printer which includes a latent image carrier in the form of an endless belt, a carriage moveable parallel to a lengthwise dimension of the endless belt, and a paper transport device for moving a sheet of paper perpendicular to the direction of movement of the belt. Mounted on the carriage is a condition control mechanism for putting the latent image carrier in a condition ready for writing a latent image on it, a writing mechanism for forming a latent image on the latent image carriage, a transfer unit for transferring a toner image from the latent image carrier to a recording medium, and a fixing unit for fixing the toner image on the recording medium. After a write operation, the belt is rotated on-half its length and held immoveable. The carriage, having mounted on it the condition control mechanism, writing mechanism, transfer unit and fixing unit, is then moved in the length direction of the latent image carrier and a concurrent write operation, transferring operation, and fixing operation is conducted on three separate lines of images.

    摘要: A band printer having a transport mechanism, an endless photoreceptive image carrying ribbon, a latent toner imaging apparatus, a transfer mechanism, and a fixing mechanism is disclosed. The transport mechanism defines a printing medium path extending in a first direction and transports a printing medium along the printing medium path. The endless photoreceptive image carrying ribbon circulates adjacent the printing medium path in a second direction at an angle to the first direction, and the latent toner imaging apparatus is adjacent to and stationary with respect to the circulating ribbon. The imaging apparatus forms an electrostatic latent toner image on the surface of the ribbon according to received image data as the ribbon moves past the imaging apparatus, and the transfer mechanism transfers the formed toner image to the printing medium when the formed toner image is aligned with the printing medium. Thereafter, the fixing mechanism fixes the image to the printing medium.
