    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel that has a display region in which an image is displayed, a first adhesive layer disposed below the display panel, a translucent protective film disposed below the first adhesive layer, a fingerprint sensor disposed below the protective film and that overlaps the display region, the first adhesive layer, and the protective film when viewed in a plane, and a cover layer disposed below the protective film and in which an opening for accommodating the fingerprint sensor is formed.

    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a light-transmitting structural plate, some optical microscopic structures, an optical film, a base plate and some light emitting elements. The light-transmitting structural plate has a first side and a second side opposite to each other. The optical microscopic structures are regularly arrayed and formed on the first side or the second side. The optical microscopic structure has an inclined surface connecting at a connecting line and forming an angle ranging between 30 degrees and 150 degrees with a corresponding inclined surface of an adjacent one of the optical microscopic structures. The optical film is located on the first side. The base plate is separated from the second side by a space. The light emitting elements are located inside the space and disposed on the base plate. The light emitting elements respectively emit a light ray to the light-transmitting structural plate.

    Abstract: An electronic device display and a display cover layer may be coupled to a housing. The display may have an array of pixels that are configured to emit light. One or more light redirecting elements may be incorporated into the electronic device that redirect and thereby change the direction of light rays emitted from peripheral pixels in the display. The light redirecting elements may be used to enlarge the effective size of the display, to create images on sidewall surfaces of the display cover layer, and/or to create diffuse glowing areas around the periphery of the device. Light redirecting elements may be formed as integral portions of a display cover layer, as laminated optical films on a display cover layer, or as coating layers on a display cover layer. Afocal optical systems may be formed by placing first and second light redirecting elements on opposing first and second sides of a display cover layer.

    Abstract: A light guide plate includes a main body, stripe structures, and light-adjusting structures. The main body includes a light-incident surface and an optical surface. The stripe structures are disposed on the optical surface. The light-adjusting structures are disposed between two adjacent stripe structures. Each of the light-adjusting structures includes a first light active surface and a second light active surface. The first light active surface faces towards the light-incident surface. The second light active surface faces towards an opposite light-incident surface. The first light active surface and the second light active surface are inclined towards different directions and formed a non-symmetrical shape. A first included angle is formed between the first light active surface and the optical surface. A second included angle is formed between the second light active surface and the optical surface.     Abstract: Described are various embodiments of a digital display device for use by a user having reduced visual acuity. In one embodiment, the device comprises: a digital display medium comprising an array of pixels and operable to render a pixelated image accordingly; a light field shaping layer defined by an array of light field shaping elements and disposed relative to said digital display so to align each of said light field shaping elements with a corresponding set of said pixels to shape a light field emanating therefrom and thereby at least partially govern a projection thereof from said display medium toward the user; and a hardware processor operable on pixel data for the image such that said processed image is rendered to at least partially compensate for the user's reduced visual acuity.
