摘要:
A woodwind instrument reed is strip-shaped and has a vamp on one side in a longitudinal direction. The reed includes a resin matrix containing a liquid crystal polymer as a principal component, and a layered mineral dispersed in the resin matrix. A method for producing a woodwind instrument reed that is strip-shaped and has a vamp on one side in a longitudinal direction includes charging a composition for forming the reed into a cavity of a mold from a longitudinal end on a side opposite to the vamp to be formed. The composition contains a liquid crystal polymer as a principal component, and a layered mineral.

Apparatus for enhancing tunes produced out of single-reed wind music instrument are disclosed. Apparatus comprise one or more sound enhancing elements in form of a plurality of elongated ribs or grooves, or one or more studs affixed to a reed's table side. Patterns of the elongated ribs/grooves can be straight or wavy lines orientated in longitudinal, transverse or oblique direction with respect to the reed. Each stud contains a three-dimensional (3-D) geometric shape portion for altering sounds produced out of a single-reed wind music instrument when played by a player, and a base of the 3-D geometric shape portion for affixing the stud to the table side of a reed in an area directly opposite to the heart of the reed. Dimensions of the area are single-reed wind music instrument dependent.

Disclosed herein is a reed affixing device for a wind instrument. The device includes a puller means disposed on an upper portion of the mouthpiece in a longitudinal direction thereof and having a puller, with hollow portions formed in the puller in the longitudinal direction of the mouthpiece. A string-shaped cord passes through the hollow portions in the form of a unidirectional spiral from a side of the puller to wind around the reed and the mouthpiece at several times, and is secured to first and last hollow portions formed, respectively, in both ends of the puller. An affixing means is fastened to a side of the puller means to secure the reed to the mouthpiece. A pair of sound adjusting members is provided on opposite sides of the reed to be in close contact with the cord that is wound several times, thus adjusting a tone of sound.

A gouging machine for cane includes: (a) a base; (b) a cane bed, having a trough disposed parallel to a bottom surface of the cane bed, and having grooves on opposing sides thereof that slope at a groove angle with respect to the bottom surface of the cane bed, the cane bed being affixed to the base so that the trough is parallel to a top surface of the base and to a predetermined line; and (c) clamps, disposed on the opposing sides of the cane bed, each clamp having a tongue that slopes at the groove angle with respect to a clamping surface thereof, which clamping surface is adapted to grip edges of cane placed in the trough of the cane bed, and wherein the tongues of the clamps slidably engage the grooves of the cane bed so that the clamping surface of the clamps are parallel to a bottom of the trough.

Disclosed herein is a ligature providing secure contact between the reed and mouthpiece while at the same time allowing for faster adjustment of the reed location and contact point with respect to the mouthpiece cavity such that longer or shorter reed vibrations can be easily obtained if desired. The improved ligature is adaptable to fit a wide range of woodwind instrument mouthpieces. In addition, the ligature has limited points of contact with the mouthpiece, so as to eliminate or reduce abrasions to the mouthpiece assembly associated with the application of the ligature.

An oboe reed gouge device has a carriage upon which a blade is carried at an angle to raw cane material from which a reed is formed. The carriage is rotatably and longitudinally slidable on a rod to move relative to the cane. The rod has opposing end segments with coincident axes that are offset from the axis of a central rod segment. By rotating the rod about the axes of the end segments, the carriage, which is mounted on the central rod segment, is moved laterally relative to the cane. By mounting a gauge finger against the central rod segment, the amount of lateral displacement can be measured and displayed. A groove is formed in the carriage, and the blade is mounted in the groove using a pin with a drive screw, and a second screw to lock the blade in position.

An apparatus for abrading a reed for a musical instrument comprises: a base having two top surfaces tilted toward each other and having tapered parallel tracks in its side edge surfaces; and a carriage slidable on the tracks. The carriage includes an abrasive surface adopted to contact a reed placed on one of the top surfaces of the base.

The object of the invention is a single dual reed module, particularly for an instrument of the accordion type using two directions of air flow, characterized in that it comprises, for each note, a single fixed tongue carrier (32) with a window (34) and a tongue (36) connected to this tongue carrier and comprising at least one tongue (42) disposed in line with this window, as well as at least one associated movable element (44), disposed laterally relative to said tongue and adapted to take a first position for a first direction of air flow by providing an interstice between this movable element and the edge of the tongue such that this blade vibrates to emit said note in this first direction of air flow, and a second position symmetrical to the first position relative to the plane of the tongue for the second direction of air flow, by also providing an interstice such that the tongue vibrates to emit the same note in this second direction of air flow.
