摘要: In various embodiments, a spacer grid for a nuclear reactor fuel bundle is provided. The grid includes a plurality of interstitial dividers that form an array of cells. Each cell is structured to retain a respective one of a plurality of fuel rods to thereby form an array of equally spaced fuel rods. The grid additionally includes a perimeter band that peripherally surrounds the dividers and is connected to opposing ends of each divider. The perimeter band includes a plurality of spring tabs formed along and extending from an edge of the perimeter band. The spring tabs extend from the edge at an angle away from the dividers such that a distal end of each spring tab will contact an interior surface of a respective one of a plurality of walls of a channel in which the arrayed fuel rods can be inserted to form the fuel bundle.

摘要: There are disclosed an inspection system for and a method of confirming the soundness of a transported object while the object is being transported and handled. Waveform sampling sensors are mounted on the transported object and a transportation container, and a GPS and a CCD camera are mounted on a transportation vehicle. Sampled data are sent via the Internet Web in real-time to a remote transported object monitoring office at all times while the object is being transported based on bidirectional communications between the transportation vehicle and the remote transported object monitoring office. Various items of information including generated accelerations, times at which the accelerations are generated, raw waveforms of the accelerations are successively displayed on a traveling route on a map displayed on a personal computer for bidirectional confirmation of the soundness of the transported object in real-time.

摘要: A method and apparatus for transporting syringes containing radioactive material. The apparatus includes a radiopharmaceutical pig having an inner chamber in which a sharps container can be secured. The sharps container has a housing and an attachable cap. The method includes assembling the radiopharmaceutical pig so that the chamber of the radiopharmaceutical pig contains the syringe in the sharps container housing. The radiopharmaceutical pig is disassembled, where upon the syringe is removed, discharged, and then replaced in the sharps container housing. The cap of the sharps container is affixed to the housing of the sharps container, thus enclosing the contaminated syringe therein. The radiopharmaceutical pig is assembled so that its chamber contains the sharps container and the syringe. The radiopharmaceutical pig is transported to a disposal area, where it is disassembled and the sharps container containing the syringe is placed in a particular disposal container.
