The wires can be tracked using one or more wire tracking devices that can be disposed at one or more locations within the wire distribution system. The wire tracking devices can provide information related to the amounts of wires and the types of wires being used to wind about a winding head/form. The information can be used to check for errors during a winding operation and indicate the progress of the winding operation. The information can also be used to update wire-availability data to reflect the amount of wire that has been provided during the winding operation.

A multiple spindle winding machine includes a conveyor belt for advancing a plurality of workpiece carriers frictionally engaged thereto to a winding station and a processing station. Each workpiece carrier includes at least two spaced apart coil holding fixtures rigidly secured to a base plate and cooperable with the winding station. A lifting device having guide rails laterally displaced from the conveyor elevates one of the workpiece carriers from the conveyor belt to the winding station. The winding station includes a wire guide and a cutting device mounted to a pivotable arm for providing wire to be wound around a coil. Wire residue is collected by a holding pin positioned on the workpiece carrier.

A microscope is used to detect misplacement between the base line and a reference line that is the magnetic wire taking a form of a straight line under application of tensile force and pulled out by a wire chuck. The misplacement is corrected using a position adjustment device of a substrate attaching base to which the wire alignment substrate is attached. The magnetic wires are temporarily fixed to the wire alignment substrate by magnetic power, and then permanently fixed to the wire alignment substrate using resin while free from the torsional stresses.
