    摘要: A variable rotating capacitor or RotCo 5 that can be connected via a transmission line 3 to the dee 2 of a synchrocyclotron 1 so as to adjust a resonant frequency of the synchrocyclotron as a function of time and which comprises a cylindrical rotor 10 and a cylindrical stator 20 that are coaxial with the Z axis. The rotor comprises a plurality of circumferentially-distributed rotor electrodes 11 extending parallel to its rotation axis Z. The stator comprises a plurality of circumferentially-distributed stator electrodes 21 extending parallel to the rotation axis Z. Each stator electrode 21 consists of a single metal plate and all said plates are distributed over one and the same stator circumference 25. This makes it possible for the RF currents in the electrodes to be better distributed and thus reduces the local overheating.The present invention also relates to a synchrocyclotron comprising such a RotCo.

    摘要: A trimmer capacitor is provided which includes a conductive bushing having a first terminal of the capacitor formed integrally therewith, a rotor threadably engageable with the bushing, and a dielectric portion attached at one end to the bushing and having a metallized stator surrounding the dielectric portion near the opposite end thereof. The metallized stator forms the second terminal of the capacitor, and is positioned above the bottom edge of the dielectric portion. The rotor includes transverse slots which bias the rotor in position against the bushing, to prevent undesired rotation of the rotor.

    摘要: A variable electronic component in the nature of a trimmer capacitor for use in a subminiature electronic circuit is adapted to provide a desired wide range of impedance characteristics. The variable electronic component is constructed of a sealed housing having an impedance varying piston driven by a screw supporting a non-axially extending tab or threaded member. The piston includes a cylindrical member which, through conjoining with a cylindrical member of dielectric material, provides a varied range of capacitance to the trimmer capacitor.

    摘要: A miniature multiturn electrical capacitor is provided that includes low cost, high precision, die cast components and a unique spring biasing means to ensure electrical contact and torque between the rotor and the housing of the capacitor to enhance capacitor performance. The spring biasing means comprises a circular spring which resists compression in the radial direction and engages the inside surface of the flexible tubular rotor to bias the rotor against the internally threaded housing. The torque thus created promotes precise rotor positioning within and electrical contact with the housing.

    摘要: A low-loss capacitor having hollow cylindrical electrodes which are coaxially interleaved. The capacitance is varied by rotation of the rotor electrodes which are mounted on a screw member for axial displacement with respect to the stator electrodes when the screw member is turned. The screw member has a frictional-locking means in the form of a pair of diametrically opposed, outwardly bulging, thin-walled sections interspaced by through openings. A square opening is provided within the outer end of the screw member to permit adjustment thereof for tuning by use of a nonmetallic tuning rod tool of complemental square crosssectional shape.
