    摘要: The present invention discloses a touch detected voice-prompted 2-stage keypad. The keypad has a touching detector switch (first stage) and a contact switch (second stage). The touching signal of a finger is identified by the detector and then input to the microprocessor, a number or a function (voice) represent this keypad is output to a speaker, the user confirms that this keypad is the required one, thus press the contact switch to output a signal to the microprocessor to execute the function of this key. The touch detected voice-prompted 2-stage key may form an array of numbers and/or functions, and control by touching instead of viewing. It is convenient in the night, for a blind or weak sighted people.

    摘要: Disclosed are four arrangements for providing tactility on a touch surface keyboard. One approach is to provide tactile feedback mechanisms, such as dots, bars, or other shapes on all or many keys. In another embodiment, an articulating frame may be provided that extends when the surface is being used in a typing mode and retracts when the surface is used in some other mode, e.g., a pointing mode. The articulating frame may provide key edge ridges that define the boundaries of the key regions or may provide tactile feedback mechanisms within the key regions. The articulating frame may also be configured to cause concave depressions similar to mechanical key caps in the surface. In another embodiment, a rigid, non-articulating frame may be provided beneath the surface. A user will then feel higher resistance when pressing away from the key centers, but will feel a softer resistance at the key center.

    摘要: A hand-held remote computer input peripheral for communicating with a host computer having a display screen. An operator holds the input peripheral in space with a first hand. The input peripheral includes activation mode buttons each corresponding to a respective activation mode of the touch pad for controlling the display screen. The activation modes include a text entry mode for entering text on the display screen and a cursor control mode for controlling a cursor on the display screen. The input peripheral further includes a touch pad. The operator manipulates the touch pad using a second hand while holding the input peripheral with the first hand to perform functions associated with the activation modes for controlling the display screen. The text entry mode includes an annotation mode for enabling the operator to draw on to the display screen and a type mode for enabling the operator to print text on to the display screen. The operator draws on to the display screen in the annotation mode by moving a finger of the second hand across the touch pad. The operator prints text on to the display screen in the type mode by moving a finger of the second hand across the touch pad to handwrite the text and conversion software converts the handwritten text to printed text. The operator prints text on to the display screen in the type mode by moving a finger of the second hand across the touch pad to select letters of an on-screen keyboard displayed on the display screen.

The system comprises an activation mechanism associated with a key in the system, a first feedback system and a second feedback system. The activation mechanism is associated with the key activation system and provides a first feedback sense when the activation mechanism has triggered the first activation condition. The second feedback system provides a second feedback sense indicating when the key triggers the second activation condition. In the system, the second feedback system operates independently from the activation mechanism and the first activation condition is triggered before the second activation condition when the activation mechanism is initially engaged. An activation mechanism may be centrally located for a set of keys.

    摘要: A tactile recognition input device is used by a visually impaired individual, for example, to interact with an electronic device, such as a computer. The input device includes a plurality of activation keys movable in a direction generally parallel to the input device and preferably away from the individual to activate the input device and transmit input signals. Each of the activation keys includes a tactilly recognizable region including, for example, a Braille character. A tactile recognition overlay is used with an existing input device, such as a membrane computer keyboard. The overlay includes an overlay member having a plurality of depressible portions that are movable to below the overlay member to activate input regions on the input device. Activation keys are disposed on the overlay member over each of the depressible portions and are movable in the direction generally parallel to the input device. When one of the activation keys is moved, the activation key engages the corresponding depressible portion and moves the depressible portion to contact the corresponding input region. The tactilly recognizable region can be disposed on a surface of the activation keys or on a surface of tactile recognition blocks removably coupled to the activation keys.
