In some embodiments, a plurality of MediaLink Interconnection Boxes (“MIBs”) or media interconnection devices, which may be disposed throughout a recreational vehicle (“RV”) park or other bulk service provider application sites, or the like, may serve as demarcation units designed to each provide an accessible indoor or outdoor interface where long-term or temporary/transient customers can directly connect to land line service (e.g., POTS service), video or television service, and/or Ethernet or Internet services provided by one or more service providers. Fiber-to-Drop-Point (“FTDP”) and/or point-to-point fiber insertion within a passive optical network (“PON”) communications system may be implemented using apical conduit systems in conjunction with the MIBs. Alternatively, traditional ground-based or buried line interconnections (or a combination of the apical conduit system and such traditional interconnections) may be implemented in conjunction with the MIBs.

An apparatus for installation and protection of subsea cables comprises at least a first tubular member (1) and at least a second tubular member (2). Both these are arranged to be installed subsea with a subsea foundation (3). This allows passage of cable (29) through it. The first tubular member (1) is arranged telescopically within the second tubular member (2) so as to extract outwardly towards seabed (5) from an end portion (7), with respect to the second tubular member (2), only up to a prefixed length. This ensures that a continuous conduit for the cable is obtained through the scour protection of the foundation (3). The present invention also includes a methodology for installation of the apparatus and a method for installing a cable through the scour protection of the foundation, by using the apparatus.

The present invention relates generally to a modular locking and retaining mechanical design solution to reliably secure immersed, unrestrained and un-powered objects in a fluid environment to a fixed support surface such as a mounting frame or panel, with a quick connect/disconnect engagement method by a diver (i.e. manual mate) or remote-operated vehicles (ROVs) mate, into a fixed mounting frame or panel installed at a subsea deployed platform for oil and gas offshore applications. The invention relates particularly to providing an isolation guide or means to prevent dissimilar materials, metals, of a compact retrievable, horizontal or vertical MCDU configuration and a frame from coming into direct contact to avoid corrosive effects, such as galvanic corrosion.
