    摘要: A method and apparatus for locating a rigid support body at a predetermined location with respect to an aperture in a wall of a facility are disclosed. The apparatus comprises: a rigid support body comprising a through-bore that extends through the support body from a first end of the support body to a further end and through which a flexible elongate member is locatable; and at least one retaining element supported on the support body via a respective connector that selectively allows the retaining element to swivel from a storage position to a deployed position: wherein in the storage position the support body is locatable through an aperture in a wall of a facility from a first position outside the facility to a further position in which at least a portion of the support body is within the facility, and in the deployed position the retaining element is disposed to prevent the support body passing fully through the aperture from the further position to the first position and to locate the rigid support body at a predetermined position with respect to the aperture.

    摘要: In particular, the invention relates to a system for regulating the temperature of a cable which is laid at least partly in a body of water and on land, said system including: means for collecting water on the land-side such that water can be collected into said means and can be dispensed out of said means; means for controlling a quantity of water such that a quantity of water flowing out of the means for collecting water on the land-side or flowing into said means from the body of water can be controlled; and means for cooling a cable, said means surrounding the cable in the form of a sleeve in at least one section of the means for collecting water on the land-side up to a body of water, wherein a cavity through which the water flows in order to cool the cable is formed between the cable and the means for cooling the cable. The invention additionally relates to the use of a system according to the invention.

    摘要: A system for detecting insulation defects in an underground power cable comprising one or more single conductors surrounded by an electrically conducting shield. The system comprises one or more external sensors clamped onto the outside of or arranged in the proximity of the power cable. The sensors are configured to provide two or more current measurements from the outside of the power cable without being electrically connected to any of the one or more conductors of the power cable. A signal processing unit of the system is adapted to use a mathematical statistical model that processes measurements made by the sensors to identify if the current measurements are caused by a partial discharge event from a leakage structure in the power cable.

    摘要: A fatigue life extender (10) has a cylindrical body (13) having a throughgoing passage (20), arranged to be incorporated at an end of a connection device such as a clamp (11). The cylindrical body has a mouth portion (18), the interior circumference of which is lined with a ring or band (22) of resilient material such as rubber or an elastomeric compound. The ring or band (22) is crosshatched into a grid creating a plurality of rectangular segments (24) of resilient material by a plurality of perpendicular cuts extending less than completely through the thickness of the material.
