Abstract:
A server system, where a multichannel server is connected to a core network of a mobile telecommunications network through a plurality of telecommunications channels. The multichannel server comprises a telecommunications network browser server, a network gateway, an integration gateway, a carrier application server and a carrier application and add-on studio. The multichannel server provides to end user devices network services and core network services through a plurality of communications channels. The multichannel server is an application interface gateway for services exposure and provides network services and core network services as interactive applications. The multichannel server provides application as a communication channel and communication channel as an application.
Abstract:
A system for tunneling wideband telephony, comprises a communication device configured to produce a compressed wideband audio signal. The compressed wideband audio signal has (i) an audio frequency passband greater than that of an 8 kHz sampled audio signal, and (ii) a compressed data rate that is less than or equal to 64 kbps. The system also includes an apparatus, such as a voice gateway, coupled to the communication device and a data link, including a transcoder bypass configured to convert, without transcoding, the compressed wideband audio signal into a data stream including wideband compressed audio data for transmission over the data link.
Abstract:
Two connections are set up. The first one serves to transmit voice information and is controlled by a connection controller routed signaling H.225A, BICC*, H.225B. The second one serves to transmit image information and is controlled by a direct end point routed signaling H.245. Therefore, the services of the network PSTN can also be offered in full to the video telephony in an advantageous manner.
Abstract:
A full services access multiplexer is described. A master DSL modem is coupled to a conductor pair. A POTS extender is coupled to the conductor pair and may sense the operation of a fallback or other signal on the conductor pair. A suppression signal may be transmitted to the master DSL modem upon occurrence of the fallback. The suppression signal may travel over a control circuit. Traffic over a backplane or other network segment may be uninterrupted to an Integrated Access Device by handling signals inbound and outbound to the backplane via packet assembler and disassembler (PAD). The PAD may transmit a data stream to vocoder and received a data stream from vocoder for injection onto the backplane.
Abstract:
A system comprising a first network gateway coupled to a circuit-switched network, the first network gateway to initiate a tunnel through the circuit-switched network responsive to packetized fax relay data received from a packet-switched network, and a second network gateway couple to the circuit-switched network, the second network gateway to receive packetized fax relay data through a tunnel over the circuit-switched network from the first network gateway.
Abstract:
Interpersonal communications initiated from devices such as various phones and voice/chat devices automatically transport via an optimal path by invoking a service selector of communication mediums for selecting at least one of several alternate routing paths for user communications from among available communication mediums common to both an initiator and recipient. A user registration database identifies communication mediums applicable to each user, and identifies or maps an appropriate communication medium between users for completing a particular call. The service selector identifies and intercepts an outgoing communication attempt (call, email, text) from a user, identifies the user and recipient in the database, and selects an optimal communication medium defining an alternate routing path from the initially specified (i.e. default) transport mechanism.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a system includes first and second gateway devices operable to communicate with respective first and second video terminals in accordance with H.323, the first and second gateway devices also being operable to communicate with each other over an H.320 call leg. Responsive to a first message received from the first video terminal that contains a terminal capability in H.245, the first gateway mapping the terminal capability into a non-standard section of an H.221 data stream, and send the data stream to the second gateway device. The second gateway device decoding the terminal capability from the non-standard section, encoding the terminal capability in H.245 in a second message, and sending the second message to the second video terminal. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
Abstract:
A method for directly converting packet-based voice data of two non-compatible formats, (e.g., VoIP and VOATM), is described. A VoIP call agent sets a connection between a VoIP edge gateway and an interworking unit (IWU). The IWU allows the VoATM network to appear as a TDM network to the VoIP call agent. The VoIP call agent selects a virtual trunk group and channel identification code through the interworking unit and transmits the selection to a VoATM call agent. The IWU allows the VoIP network to appear as a TDM network to the VoATM call agent such that the VoATM call agent establishes a connection between the virtual trunk group and a VoATM network device. The IWU allows the VoATM network to appear as a TDM network to the VoIP call agent such that the VoIP call agent establishes a connection between the virtual trunk group and a VoIP network device.
Abstract:
A system and method for reducing or eliminating degradation in voice transmission quality resulting from repeated or sequential compression and decompression of voice packets over one or more packet networks. When a voice connection is established between two parties on separate packet networks, the signal is often passed through a PBX and/or over PSTN lines, with the occurrence of two tandem low-bit-rate codecs used to transfer the signal and introducing degradation of voice quality. This situation arises frequently in voice-over-packet applications. The situation can also arise when a call is forwarded from one place to another. The present invention reduces the degradation associated with the transport of voice data and thereby improving the voice quality by removing one of the tandem codecs.
