    摘要: A method for effecting reduction, stabilization and enhancement of fusion of the human cranio-cervical junction, which may be performed in order to relieve mechanical stresses imparted to the spinal cord and brainstem as a result of an abnormal clivo-axial angle, includes steps of achieving the correct craniocervical relationship, of effecting a fusion of a first portion of a bone forming material based structural member to a human cranium, and effecting fusion of a second portion of the bone forming material based structural member to a least one portion of a human cervical spine. Fusion of the bone forming material based structural member to the human cranium may be promoted through the use of plate member that is shaped to define a graft accommodation space between the plate member and the cranium.

    摘要: An orthodontic fixing apparatus is provided, wherein the apparatus includes a linear fixing body, bisymmetrically defined, having a plurality of connection grooves in each left and right sides thereof, and a plurality of cylindrical fixing rings arranged on the upper and lower sides of the central portion of the fixing body with a connection member being placed between the upper and lower sides, wherein a screw is inserted, to thereby fix the fixing body to the palate. Each fixing ring may protrude by a width of 0.1 mm to 4 mm in a direction of contact with the palate to minimize the contact of the fixing ring or the fixing body with the palate. The fixing ring may include a taper having a diameter that gradually decreases from an inlet to an outlet along an insertion direction of the screw, wherein an internal thread is arranged in the fixing ring.

    摘要: The cranial cover can form a contoured surface to conform to a patient's cranium. The cover is an array of generally evenly spaced screw-receiving openings. Arms extend between the screw-receiving openings from one screw-receiving opening to the adjacent screw-receiving openings. The centerline of each arm is angled to the center of the screw-receiving openings between which the arm extends. The four arms of four adjacent screw-receiving openings create a rhombus shaped central opening.

    摘要: A bone distractor is created which grips bones along their edges and then applies an expansion force between the two bone edges. This expansionary force is used to encourage bone growth and elongation. Two clamps are used; each of the clamps is adapted to engage opposing edges of a bone. A rod extends from one clamp and presses against the other clamp; due to the threads on the clamp and the rod, a turn of the rod applies an expansion force between the two clamps. By selective application of this force, the bone naturally grows and elongates. The invention is particularly useful for craniofacial structures. Not only does the apparatus elongate the bone, but due to the nature of the clamping and forces applied over time, the adjacent soft tissue is also naturally elongated.

    摘要: A small bone plate suitable for use, for example, on the cranial skeleton, on the facial skeleton and on micro fragments of other skeleton sections is provided. The bone plate is formed from webs joining screw hole boundaries in a particular fashion; and the plate can be bent in its plane, without deformation of the screw hole boundaries. Thus, insertion of bone screws into the small bone plate is not hindered by deformed screw hole boundaries. The bone plate can be single-legged or multiple-legged. Also provided is a special type of bone screw especially suitable for use with the small bone plate of the invention. The bone screw has a cross-slotted head, with the bottoms of the slots being concave. The screw is also preferably self-tapping and preferably has a conical tip.
