    摘要： In accordance with certain embodiments, a modular crankshaft features a connection system between modules that features opposed female receptacles. A pin having opposed beveled ends and hydraulic passages with it is inserted into the opposed receptacles. A pair of seals is disposed on the beveled ends and straddles a hydraulic fluid outlet. The crankshaft wall that defines each receptacle is designed to flex in response to applied hydraulic pressure between the seals on the tapered pin portion. A notch at the base of the receptacle in the crankshaft reduces stress concentration and enables the wall defining the crankshaft receptacle to come back when hydraulic pressure through the pin is removed. The opposed crankshaft receptacles are flanged to allow them to be pulled together over the pin. An interference fit results around the pin after the flanges are mated and the hydraulic pressure is removed.

    摘要： A hydraulically operated disk brake apparatus for a motor vehicle comprises a brake disk, a caliper-like brake housing disposed to straddle over the brake disk and having a pair of arms, and a pair of brake pad assemblies disposed in the brake housing in opposition to each other with the brake disk being interposed therebetween. The brake pad assemblies are movable toward and from the brake disk. A cylinder chamber is formed in one of the caliper arms and accommodates therein a first piston for pressing the adjacent brake pad assembly to the brake disk and a second piston positioned with a distance from the first piston. The second piston is operated by an externally provided actuator member to produce a hydraulic pressure in the cylinder chamber for moving the first piston and the associated brake pad assembly toward the brake disk. A reservoir for hydraulic fluid is formed in the brake housing to supply supplementary fluid into the cylinder chamber.

    摘要： A grating mat assembly is disclosed, which is of a generally rigid construction, as distinguished from an articulated, roll-up construction. Unlike conventional rigid grating mats, the structure of the present invention comprises a plurality of slot-like section joined edge to edge in a manner providing for sufficiently rigidity for manufacture, handling and installation, while eliminating the customary longitudinally extending locking bars, utilized in more conventional grating mat assemblies, which add significantly to the cost of manufacture thereof. The slot-like mat sections of the new design are of extruded construction, formed with a horizontal upper ball, widely spaced vertical end walls, and one or more intermediate vertical walls. The vertical walls support the upper wall substantially above a base surface. The opposite vertical end walls of the slot-like sections are formed with tongue and groove structures, such that a pair of adjacent section interfit to provide positive horizontal alignment. Adjacent slot-like sections are secured tightly together either by way of the tongue and groove structure, or by separate means.
