    摘要: A system for use in a press machine includes a drive assembly in the form of a pinion gear that selectively engages the flywheel to enable operative driving rotation of the pinion gear by the flywheel. A load system in the form of a hydraulic pump is arranged in operative driving relationship with the pinion gear. Accordingly, rotational energy withdrawn from the flywheel becomes available for use in driving the hydraulic pump, which is preferably arranged in fluid communication with the press machine to supply a flow of oil for lubrication purposes. An adjustment assembly is arranged to controllably reversibly displace the pinion gear to effect its selective engagement with the flywheel. The pinion gear is provided with a geared peripheral surface for intermeshing engagement with the flywheel at a geared periphery thereof. The system may also be operated in reverse to drive the flywheel.

    摘要: A worm-like drive mechanism has a plurality of axially-spaced eccentrics rotated by an input shaft located at right angles to an output shaft. A wheel mounted on the output shaft has a circumferential surface with periodic undulations. Oscillators in the form of rollers mounted on pins and captured in respective slots of a fixed carrier are reciprocated through contact with the external surfaces of the eccentrics to cause the undulated surfaces of the wheel to move, thereby driving the output shaft. Contact between the rollers and the eccentrics is achieved through the intermediary of bars which are reciprocated with the rollers.

    摘要: A mechanical transmission converts rotational motion of an input drive shaft to an alternating radially directed motion of a selected amplitude. The alternating motion imparts rotational movement to an output driven shaft through imposition of one-way clutches. The alternating radially directed motion is varied by means of a rotatable self-balancing cam assembly. The self-balancing cam assembly includes a working, radially offsettable cam component and a compensating counterbalance. The cam and counterbalance are interconnected by a plurality of eccentric orbital coupling elements which rotate with the input drive shaft and are selectively rotatable thereabout. These impart simultaneous radial movement to the cam and counterbalance as desired to maintain the transmission in a dynamically balanced condition over its full range of operation.

    摘要: A sequential ratchet drive for an appliance timing cam is disclosed. The drive includes a pawl adapted to drive ratchet teeth located on the periphery of a main program cam in a step-by-step manner. The pawl is driven and guided by cams against and with the bias of springs in an initial tangential drive path in driving engagement with a ratchet tooth. The cams guide the pawl out of engagement with the driven tooth in a curvilinear retraction path with the bias of a first spring and against the bias of a second spring to a raised location and then the pawl is returned to its initial driving position by the bias of both springs. A portion of the path of travel of the pawl from its raised location to its initial position may be defined by a portion of a ratchet tooth so that the retraction path of the pawl may adapt itself to a variety of varying tooth spacings.

    摘要: A transport system for a dot matrix printing mechanism including an improved overall design for the transport system and improved designs for individual elements of the system and combinations of elements. The overall design of the present invention uses snap fits extensively throughout for ease of assembly and disassembly, integrates many previously separate parts into one-piece members, employs common part designs wherever possible, and uses single parts to perform multiple functions wherever possible. For examples, the strike bar and ribbon frame of the present invention are combined into one piece and the ribbon cartridge is releasably mounted to the ribbon frame using one end of a latch member while the other end of the latch member is used to bias a pressure roller against the paper advancing roller. The overall design also includes a common drive train interconnected between the moving parts of the transport system whereby all of the moving parts can be powered by a single motor. Novel individual features are also disclosed including a new pawl arrangement for advancing the paper, cam-follower arrangement for the print head, and bearing design for rotatably supporting the shafts of the transport system.
