    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a recording head, a carriage, a sheet cutting device, a cutter position detecting device, and a notification device. The carriage mounts the recording head and is reciprocally movable in a width direction of a sheet perpendicular to a sheet feed direction. The sheet cutting device includes a cutter and a cutter holder. A movement area of the carriage overlaps, in a thickness direction of the sheet, a movement area of the cutter holder in which the cutter holder moves to cut the sheet with the cutter. The cutter holder, after cutting the sheet, is movable in the width direction of the sheet with the cutter holder being retracted from the sheet feed path in the thickness direction of the sheet. The notification device notifies a user of an abnormality of the cutter holder based on a detection result of the cutter position detecting device.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing an index divider sheet assembly adapted for feeding into ink jet printers and the like for a printing operation on the sheet body and/or the index tab of the assembly. The assembly includes a divider sheet having a tab extending out of one edge and a reinforced binding edge flap. The divider sheet can be manufactured from ink jet receptive top-coated white cardstock. A guide strip along the tab edge assists the assembly being fed and passing through the printer despite the presence of the tab. The binding edge flap is folded over onto the body of the sheet and held thereon to reduce the width dimension of the assembly so that it can be fed into and passed through the printer. After passing through the printer, the guide strip is removed and the flap is unfolded. To improve feed of the assembly from a printer feed tray having corner guides, the flap is manufactured to have notches cut out of both ends thereof to define thin legs along the flap fold line and at both corner ends of the flap.

    Abstract: A full rotation type, sheet web shearing machine comprising a rotary blade with a shearing edge, a stationary blade with a shearing edge, a motor for driving and braking the rotary blade, a cam for detecting a rotation angle of the rotary blade and gears for reducing the revolution speed of the motor. The full rotation type, sheet web shearing machine may cut sheet web to a given length. Owing to one full rotation of the rotary blade, it can cut the sheet web running continuously at a high speed without jam. The rotary blade is rotated, through gears driven by the motor and also is braked by making a braking circuit between electrical terminals of the motor so that the rotary blade is stopped at a predetermined angle.

    Abstract: A paper-sheet punching device shown in FIG. 4 includes a motor 22 for driving a reciprocatingly movable punching blade 21 and is provided with a punching process unit 20′ for punching two or more holes at one end of paper-sheets 3 and with a CPU 55 for controlling this unit. The CPU 55 detects whether the punching blades 21 rushes into a home position in which the stop position of the punching blades 21 is allowed, executes reverse rotation brake control on the motor 22 for a predetermined period of time from the point of time when the punching blades 21 rushes into the home position, and prolongs the reverse rotation brake control on the motor 22 after the punching blades 21 reaches a predetermined position. It becomes possible to stop the punching blade within the home position when the punching blade stops.
