    摘要： A nibbling tool (11) adapted to incrementally remove material from an edge of sheet material (96), the nibbling tool (11) comprising a punch (71) caused in use to reciprocate within a die (81) by drive means (14), the punch (71) comprising a generally elongate cylindrical member having a first diameter and having a waisted portion (74) disposed towards the work end, the waisted portion (74) defining a second, reduced diameter, the punch (71) having an abrupt change between the second, reduced diameter and the first diameter to define a substantially radial contact surface (78) having a peripheral edge (79), the die (81) comprising an elongate guide for guiding reciprocation of the punch (71) and having a slot (87) proximate a work end of the die (81) adapted to expose the punch (71), the slot (87) adapted in use to receive said edge of the sheet material (96) and positioned along the die (81) so that at one point of the stoke of the reciprocation of the punch (71) the waisted portion (74) of the punch (71) is positioned in the slot (87) and at another point in the stroke a first diameter portion of the punch (71) is positioned within the slot (87) whereby said radial contact surface (78) is caused to reciprocate across the slot (87), the slot (87) comprising a support surface (88) adapted to provide support to the sheet material (96) such that in use the peripheral edge of the contact surface (78) is caused to engage the sheet material (96) and cause it to be pressed against said support surface (88) to cause the incremental removal of material from the sheet (96) wherein the plane of the support surface (88) is inclined obliquely relative to a radius of the contact surface (78) in a direction to cause the peripheral edge (79) to initially contact the edge of the sheet material (96) to commence a cutting action of the sheet material (96).

    摘要： A device for shifting a workpiece on a nibbling machine which includes a rotary eccentric shaft which is rotatable to move a nibbling punch into and out of association with a workpiece, comprises a workpiece holder which is driven by a first motor in one direction, and a second motor in a direction transverse to this direction. A switch control is connected to each motor and includes means for imparting a programmed control of the operation of the motors which is varied in accordance with a sensing of the thickness of the workpiece being operated upon so that the movement may be accomplished when the nibbling punch is not in contact with the workpiece. The apparatus includes a control switch in the form of a switch lug which is mounted for rotation with the eccentric shaft of the nibbling punch and which cooperates with a contactless switch member to cause a turning on and off thereof. The control switch lug is advantageously contoured so that it defines an inner switch control surface which defines a control arc of operation which is greater than an outer surface, and means are provided for shifting the responsive switch so that it cooperates selectively with either the inner or outer surface or an intermediate surface in accordance with the thickness of the plate being formed.
